hiya, love this poem! I was wondering if you this version could be translated into Polish? I see the card version of this has been translated into Polish.

    • Hello lauryn7299,
Thanks for commenting. I can see this being a useful addition - I'll pass your suggestion over to our translation team, to see if we're able to provide this. Because these requests require specialist input, they do take longer than other requests, but we will be back in touch if we can provide this. In the meantime, I have requested an editable version if you are able to provide your own translation. I hope this helps!

What is this End of Year Poem?

This resource is a lovely poem with an end of year theme. You can customise it with your own student's names too!

You can use this to wish your class good luck and farewell or have it read at whole-school assemblies near the end of the year.

The A4 PDF is beautifully illustrated and easily printable, so you can even use it as a display piece in your classroom.

If you like this resource, take a look at our Moving Classes End of Year Poem too!

How can I use this End of Year Poem?

This poem makes a lovely gift for students - there's space at the top of the PDF for you to write the name of each individual child. Why not print a copy off for every pupil and present it to them like a certificate? It'll work well as a memento of their time in your class. It might be nice to give them a small chocolate bar or packet of sweets along with it, just to make the day feel extra-special. These bookmarks can also make great goodbye gifts.

Another way to use this poem as part of your End of Year Celebrations could be to have teachers perform it in an assembly. Either recite as a group, or use the poem as lyrics. If you have any musical members of staff, they might be able to provide a backing track on the guitar or piano. A live performance would be a lovely way to celebrate the last day of school but you could also film the song and post it online for parents to enjoy too.

    Before you leave...

...use this teacher end of the year checklist to make sure your classroom is safe and secure before signing off for the summer break.

    End of Year Poem:

    I think you're very special,

And I just wanted you to know,

    This year has been amazing,

I'm so sad to see you go!

What is a nice farewell gift to give to my students?

If you're a teacher nearing the end of the school year, here are some ideas of gifts you can give your students that won't break the bank!

    • A summer diary children can use to record holiday memories.
    • Collages of pictures from throughout the year.
    • 'Thank You' poems or cards.
    • A keepsake photo with the teacher.
    • Personalised bookmarks.
    • 'You're a smart cookie' treat!

Other End of Year Activity Ideas

Taking the time to mark the end of the year and give children the chance to celebrate successes from the year is really important. Why not ask children to write reflective pieces of writing about their favourite school memories? These pieces of writing would look lovely as part of an End of Year display - why not invite parents to take a look? Or, get children to create scrapbooks full of photographs and memories - they'll be able to treasure them forever!

If you're not in the mood for anything so formal, you could simply take some time out of an End of Year class to invite children to reflect. Ask them what their favourite lessons where. Which subjects did they particularly enjoy? What did they like about them?

Were there any school trips that were a roaring success? The children might like to hear what you thought of the year. Did you learn anything new? What did you enjoy? What will you miss about your class?

These kinds of conversations aren't just emotionally rewarding for you and your class, but they could also help you identify the teaching methods that work well and the ones that could be improved. Make notes, bear it all in mind for the next year, the next class.
