In tonight’s S.W.A.T. episode, Deacon still plans on retiring. He was giving Hondo a few weeks before he goes. Hondo has been slow to fill his team and Deac leaving will finally force the matter. He couldn’t keep borrowing from other teams forever. Plus, there were new classes coming up. Deac helped with the classes.

He was used to running SWAT academy class and so he showed Tan tonight what to do when it’s his turn. Deac wants Tan to take over running the classes. It was a big job. There were lots of responsibilities that came with it. Tan told Deac that he had to think about it. He has to consider it before he could sign up.

When they weren’t discussing succession, SWAT was also playing SWAT tag. They were given a chance to blindly select the golden ticket out of a bag and whoever held onto the golden ticket long enough gets to win some backstage passes at a John Mayer concert. Deac’s private security job helped build up a reward.

The rules are that anyone with minor infractions loses the ticket. It also led to people tagging each other. Alfaro tagged Cabrera. Powell tagged Alfaro. Alfaro then tags Powell. Those tickets were worth their weight in gold.

There was only one thing to ruin the mood. It was a spree killer. They were looking for a sniper with military precision. The sniper took out the three guys in a gang known as the Hammers. He also killed a lawyer that was known to represent the local gangs. SWAT looked into a connection between the victims.

It seems they were involved in a murder case getting dismissed. The victim was Samantha Leonard. She was a nursing student that happened to live next door to a rival stash house. The Hammers killed the people inside of the stash house and one of the bullets killed Samantha.

The three Hammers hired Phil Stoller. He didn’t have to do much because the Assistant District Attorney felt there was not enough to charge the three men. The men walked. Stoller got paid.

SWAT pretty much thought the ADA would be next. They also looked into who would have a motive. Samantha was the daughter of Diana and Elijah Leonard. Her father was a former Navy SEAL. He would have the expertise to be a sharp shooter and he would know how to rappel off of buildings. Like the killer did to get away.

SWAT went looking for Elijah. They found him at his ex-wife’s place. He was helping her with the sink and he wasn’t their sniper. Or if he was, he wasn’t the only one.

There was a sniper that tried to take out the ADA at the same time of Elijah’s arrest. This fourth shooting was nothing like the previous three. It was less precise. They also missed. The ADA survived what happened. Tan was able to warn him in time because this fourth shooting was sloppy. It was eighty feet distanced and the shooter managed to miss when they never have before.

SWAT couldn’t hold Elijah, but they knew he was involved. They released him. They kept a police car parked in front of his house to keep eyes on him. Elijah killed the guard watching him and he escaped with his partner. His partner was another Navy SEAL. His name was Hector Vance.

He served with Elijah. He was also Samantha’s godfather. They both wanted revenge for her murder. Hondo tried to contact the Hammers. He tried to warn them that highly skilled killers were coming after them. And the head honcho refused to talk or help the police.

The guy’s name is Khalif. He gave the order to hit that stash house. He was partly responsible for what happened to Samantha and so Hondo told him to be on his guard.

The young buck wasn’t ready to hear that. He devoted his life to the streets. He thought him being in charge of the Hammers ensured that no one would move against him. His corner boys spotted the car driving away from the scene where three of his men were killed. His spotters told him that the car was heading to his sister’s place.

It was all a trap. The revenge killers were going after his sister because they wanted to lure Khalif out. Khalif fell for it and his men were getting picked off when SWAT showed up. SWAT arrested the surviving Hammers. They took out Vance. They tried to reason with Elijah. Elijah said that his daughter didn’t matter until he forced people to remember her.

He also refused to turn himself in peacefully. He was threatening to kill civilians if he didn’t get his hands on Khalif. SWAT refused to hand him over and so Elijah followed through on his threats. He started shooting civilians. And once he made his move, Cabrera was able to spot his location.

Hondo took out Elijah. The Hammers were saved. Hondo also got Leroy to think about opening his auto shop up to kids in the neighborhood. Maybe he could help some of them stay off the streets.

Meanwhile Alfaro won the Mayer tickets. He planned on scalping them when he heard that Powell would have used them to treat her son to a concert and he gave the tickets to Powell guilt free.

And Tan took over the Academy class from Deac. He didn’t think he could do it at first and he later surprised himself, but Deac didn’t stay long enough to see it. He was officially retired now.

THE END!
