Inspiring Film!
morgan_lariah19 December 2018
Gorgeously shot and with amazing editing - this film highlights what's truly amazing about Bethany Hamilton: her unwillingness to give up (the title is perfect!). I was so inspired after seeing this film. I highly recommend seeing iy on the biggest screen possible so you can experience the force and power of the ocean from all of the amazing shots this film managed to capture.

Inspirational film

I don't know if I've been living under a rock but being from the UK and not a particular surf fan I'd genuinely not heard of Bethany before this however the film both left me feeling inspired by her personal story but also made me want to surf myself at some point! Shot wonderfully throughout it really left me blown away at times!

Keep Getting Back Up
downthehobbitholeblog13 July 2019
A motivational and encouraging watch! It was not quite what I was expecting it to be but it was an amazing documentary that left me feeling inspired! The shots they show you of the ocean are breathtaking, as is Bethany's incredible resilience! We highly recommend checking out this movie, especially if you've been a fan of Bethany's or if you have a teen girl. You can check out our full review, what to know before you see it, and discussion questions for after the movie on our blog DownTheHobbitHoleBlog dot com. It's the best documentary we've seen in a very long time!

Beautiful film, Powerful Story.

This documentary represents the future of documentary film making- combining stunning High-Def cinematography (on the level of Planet Earth series), flawless editing, and a powerful, moving story. I think the film's release in theaters is going to blow people away!!! 10/10 recommend to anyone.

Truly significant film that will leave you inspired
juleskordela13 July 2019
I saw the movie 7/12/19 at Regal Oceanside. Bethany Hamilton has always been one of the biggest role models in my life, an inspiration, and a motivator to say the least. This film has really made me reflect on how much of an impact she's had on me as I walk into my adulthood. It was full of breath taking scenes and so well put together, it makes her story so much more personal. Aaron Lieber and the rest of the crew have created us a view into her journey as she continues to overcome challenges and break through walls(waves) in the surfing world. It's an amazing film to witness. I pray it clears your mind and gives you peace like it did for me. God bless!!!

Victory and vulnerability told beautifully

SO GOOD in SO MANY WAYS. Action, drama, heart. Victory and vulnerability. The filmmaker really brings us in to what she's doing, thinking, feeling along her journey. Right up there with Momentum Generation. GO SEE IT!

Beautiful documentary...
RosanaBotafogo25 August 2022
I'm a big fan of this girl, like everyone else, since watching the movie biography about her, a determination, strength, indescribable hope, apart from her talent, I was happy to know that she's a mom, nice to follow all the difficulties and barriers she comes facing, and has been winning each one of them... Beautiful documentary...

A very inspirational story, but...
funtasticfour19 April 2020
I love true stories but I don't generally love documentaries. I did love Soul Surfer and expected it to be more of the same, but there isn't a lot of soul in a documentary. A great girl and I'm thrilled that she's inspired so many, but I'd rather rewatch Soul Surfer anytime. Of course the Hawaii and other location visuals are great of course.

Breathtaking, Simply Breathtaking.
itsactuallyamanda19 July 2019
As a long time fan and follower of Bethany Hamilton, and already been inspired by Soul Surfer, Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable truly proved that Bethany Hamilton is truly unstoppable. The story that she told and the footage that was shown from the past and the present along with the visuals made for a one of a kind documentary that can be enjoyed by Bethany Hamilton fans and surfing fans alike. This movie was truly breaktaking and is very much worth the money I spent for it.

Inspiring Athlete!
srapetersen19 July 2019
Bethany is a superbly gifted athlete! This inspiring documentary shows her commitment and dedication to surfing. I love how the film doesn't shy away from the struggles she faces, but encourages us to live Unstoppable, like she chooses to do. Aaron Lieber tells her story and shows us in the most beautiful way how her internal drive, her relationship with Christ and her community of support help her to overcome.

FANTASTIC SURROUND SOUND
efarmstrong11 April 2020
Enjoyed the documentary, but the surround sound was one of the best I've heard, even against action movies. If you have a 5.1 or 7.1 system, this movie will show off you setup.

Disappointing across the board
evanfinn13 July 2019
Just got back from a screening, featuring a Q&A with the director and Bethany Hamilton herself. The film is adequate, it's basically a commercial for Bethany. Nothing terribly revelatory or groundbreaking.

What was especially disappointing was Bethany herself. I brought my daughters aged 7, 10 and 12 to the movie, excited at the possibility of being able to ask Bethany a question in the Q&A portion. Well, after the ostensibly mediocre movie wrapped up, the Q&A began, with a qualification from Bethany that no questions would be asked from the audience. Um, what? Oh, and even while we sit there and do nothing while we wait for the Facebook live stream to fire up, no questions allowed. And then, after the moderator threw her a couple of softballs, that's it, because her kids are waiting in the car or some insanity like that.

Honestly, if you're going to do a Q&A, DO A Q&A, don't completely half-ass it like this. I've been to many Q&A's prior to this (a benefit of living in LA) with very, VERY famous actors and directors taking the time to interact with fans in the audience. In this case, I felt like we were there merely to serve as background for her Facebook live stream- ie. to backstop her narcissism. Now I've got a sobbing 7-year old who doesn't understand why the audience was snubbed.

Our family was a fan of Bethany's before this screening... probably not anymore.

Complete and Utter Let Down
killerindrag1 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Prior to seeing this documentary, I had followed Bethany's story the same way many people have: watching the biography movie Soul Surfer, reading her Book and watching interviews on media platforms. I was very excited & intrigued to see this documentary and went in with high hopes to learn more back story and see her compete in surfing competition's. Now, there is plenty footage of her competing, but she loses them all for various reasons and doesn't even qualify for any of them and is invited as a "Wild Card", which seemed like code for sympathy invite. We learn throughout the documentary that Bethany has numerous financial obligations and contracts with different companies & sponsors, and could not try to live the life of a world traveling spokesmodel, and try to become a top level athlete & professional surfer at the same time. Her surfer skills plummet, she falls behind her friends that she grew up with and competed against and openly admits that she knows she can't live a double life and hates doing interviews & answers her fans questions because they "bum her out big time". All this documentary does is shed light on someone who has major narcissistic tendencies & believes she is better than all her peers in the surfing world, even though she loses to them repeatedly in open competitions that her peers all put in the work and effort to qualify for on their own merit, and that Bethany was invited to participate in as a "wild card", which I described above. Even though I thought this documentary was terrible and a big propaganda filled infomercial, I am glad I saw it and now know the Truth about who Bethany really is as an adult, a person & so called professional athlete, even though she never actually goes pro or wins anything. Overall, it is a huge disappointment and a waste of 90mins.

Inspiring Many
anthonydapiii6 May 2020
I watched the first version of Bethany Hamilton's documentary when it came out. But it wasn't until 2020, that I watched this updated version.

All I'll say is that Bethany Hamilton highlights the power of the human and that the only way is through. She moved with such grace through her obstacles and successes too. This was great to watch.

Lastly, seeing her compete while taking care of a child, was astonishing to me. It shows everything I wrote in the review above.

Screw Ronda Rousey, Bethany is the women's top
nicktusk22 April 2020
Athlete considering she lost an arm by a huge tiger shark. All that aside I love the way she surfs . A true athlete and competitor and professional. The film was great . I felt like it was better than Kobe Bryant's documentary. And she does this all with a missing limb . The end is touching she works with other people with missing limbs. I can't even imagine getting out of bed, making coffee , let alone surfing huge waves and training plus she raises a child . Props Bethany ! I'm a huge fan !
