Default Best Upgrades for REVO 3.3

I am new into the sport and i just baught a new revo 3.3 and have only had the chance to break it in prolly only like 7 tanks ran through it. I have already put some upgrades on it and I will list the ones of the top of my head but I was wondering what the best upgrade options there r out there for the revo.

List of up grades
1.FOC
2.alumn a-arms (switching to RPM)
3.Enigine saver air filter
4.progressive 3 rockers
5. traxxas red pushrods
6.itenegy alumn. hubs
7.Resanoator pipe
8.fuel filter
9.alumn bumpers with plastic mounts
10.JR XS3 Radio with jr rs300 reciever
11. jr z270 standard race servo for throttle
12. Venom failsafe on way

Any opinions on upgrades would be highley appriciated.

The shock rod ends on the Revo is one of the most common parts that break, aluminum will prevent this.

I can vouch for that statement, and it's such a PITA when those plastic ends do break. Such a preventable occurrence with the help of aluminum.

I think you are on the right track, tires, stiffer shock springs, and 40wt shock oil were my best mods bar none. You already have these items, so I think you are doing well. Lets see some pics!!!

Yes just ordered the venom failsafe today. Why you sujest the ofna failsafe? just curious. I also just baught Racers edge shock ends and Golden Horizon shock caps and spring retainer plus there shock mounts front and rear.. Have not yet upgraded springs to orange and gold but plan to do so plus add 30 wt shock oil. I will post some pics prolly tomarow. It's been a fun project so far but realy haven't gotten chance to realy drive it but it will be ready as soon as the snow is gone. I am new into the sport i had a carpentry accident sept. 11 which left me paralyzed at 23 so I figured this would be a good hobbie to pick up so am looking for any imput that would make my time and more enjoyable when I do get to bring the revo out. Thanxs for all the input so far keep it coming. I will soon post pics for you all and you guys are more than welcome to post your pics as well. would love to see.

Well welcome to the hobby! I started ages ago with a Tamiya Frog, but recently got a Revo after being out of the hobby for years and it is a lot of fun.

I don't have personal experience with the Venom, but I have heard that it is glitchy whereas I've only heard good things about the Ofna. Take that for what it's worth.

My upgrades so far:
Integy skid plates front, rear
RPM arms front, rear
Golden Horizons shock ends
Traxxas Red Push rods
Integy EVO Progressive 2 Rockers
Big Daddy Fuel Filter
FOC conversion
Proline wing and wing mount
JConcepts Illuzion Tango body
Proline wabash wheels with crime fighters
Proline 23mm adapters
and I got some Imex AT Tires for my stock wheels and went ahead and bought all the Traxxas springs and have been trying different setups out which has been fun. Started with stock then went purple in back with silver in front which didnt work too well so now I'm trying green up front and tan in back.

Once I get the body painted and everything put together I'll post some pics, it's kind of a wip now. The next big thing will be getting a Futaba 3PM radio set and I want to get a Superbrain 960 charger.

Best upgrade you don't have yet is tekno rc big tank kit and battery relocation. I have a 250cc tank on my revo and love the run times. Best upgrade besides center diff. and big block.

Rod ends are made to break. Installing aluminum will just make you break something more expensive then a cheap rod end. Leave them plastic, you will be better off.

I very seldom disagree with anyones post or opinion but I am going to have to on this one. A good portion of the time the shock rod end doesn't actually break as I stated earlier I should have worded it different. The ends actually pull off from the shock shaft due to them being plastic aluminum eliminates the threads in the shock rod ends from stripping. Most of the time when the end pulls off from the shock rod the spring retainer comes off also, and on occasions the spring can to. I have lost spring retainers and springs themselves in the past due to plastic shock rod ends.

Yeah that's yet another one that I want to do at some point... longer run times... good~!

I think after I upgrade the radio, I'll get the single steering servo so I can do that.

Some others to think about are upgrading the drive train to all steel MIP parts, a tekno sway bar kit and a rear brake kit

What did you upgrade your center diff too?

You might take a look at this website too it has some good info. Balancing your wheels/tires is a good one!

I've pull 3 shock ends off in the last 3 weeks and lost a retain too. I've been told it's because the shocks hit the chassis at full suspension compression but if you raise the rear shock mount 3mm it will stop this from happening. Here's a

linkhttp://s177.photobucket.com/albums/w202/mistercrash1964/Rear%20shock%20tower/?action=view¤t=shock_tower_spacer1.jpg

Mr.C has told me has not pulled one off since doing this mod and only had to change worn shock ends.
While your in Mr.C's photobucket page you should check out the rest of his mods a lot of good stuff there.

I haven't done this mod yet myself as it is still summer here in oz and I want to run every weekend, but I intend on doing a lot of upgrades this winter and will do it then.

Sorry HILL but I have to agree with Pat on this one, it's easier to change a shock end then shock shaft. Sorry man

I can't say as I have seen a shock rod end pull off when the shock is compressed, I don't see how it can pull it off if the rocker arm is pushing on the shock rod end. And as for shock rod I have never had to replace one using aluminum shock rod ends.

That doesn't make sense to me and my shocks don't hit the chassis at full compression. I can't see the pic you posted though. Not saying it's wrong or anything. Just doesn't make sense to me.

If you take the chassis out of the scenario, then perhaps if the shock compresses so violently it pushes the rod end further down on the shock rod and strips the threads in it that would make sense.

If that was indeed what was happening, then that would mean the bump stops were inadequate to the job because that is exactly what they are there for, to prevent the shock being damaged from over compression.

So if I bend shock shafts after putting on aluminum rods ends that would prove the theory. It that case, I would need to change the either the shock fluid or the shock damper ring doo dads whatchamacallits to provide more damping.

I will be adding the aluminum rod ends and I will tell you how they work. If I start having problems I figured it would just be a learning experience and will put the plastic ends back on. I have not yet done anything with the center def yet. What are some good upgrades for that?I realy appriciate all your guys imputs. Keep em up.

hey you have a good list of upgrades, you planning on racing or attempting too at all? There are many weight and fuel modifications also. i have battery relocation, 250cc fuel tank, two jr ds8717 servos so i never have a problem with torque especially on steering i only use that one servo in place of using two. I have a vspec .21 motor, offset wheels to help keep car stabilized for handling. Have many other upgrades too but can't think of them, pretty much the car is upgraded from top to bottom, oh ya also have rear brake kit. Has a wing, want to see pictures or know of any other upgrades just ask. I race my car locally and can keep up with some truggy's and buggies.

if your not racing i would stay away from the sway bars. it limits the suspension movement when going over really rough terrain.
