This bed is great! Sturdy and so cute plus plenty big for my 18 month old son. Assembly was a piece of cake if you have a working drill. The only thing I find a little weird is that the black top piece (the steam whistle) doesn't attach and he frequently knocks it off and so do I but the hollow shelf space inside the face at the footboard is his favorite thing and he hides all his treasures there! Love, love this bed

It was very sturdy my son is almost 4 and he jumps on the bed the assembly was kind of hard if your doing by yourself it was so many screws and the steam part of thomas doesn’t stay on and the delivery was horrible it came in two boxes and one of the boxes was tore up and I thought it would have been missing pieces but the screws were taped to another piece

The decals can easily been taken off and on, so if you screw up the placement the first time it's not the end of the world.
With a drill, it's an easy assembly.

This bed arrived yesterday. I made the mistake of not hiding it immediately. My toddler saw it and had tunnel vision that it be put together right away. I do not recommend trying to assemble this on your own, while your toddler is up. It took me nearly three hours, six calls to Step2, and a lot of energy to try to get my toddler/helper to not sabotage the process. My advice for assembly... Try to sort where the three different types of screws go before starting. Get all the base parts together/assembled before inserting screws. Assemble it so that you have a wall behind it to press on while you drill the screws in. Hammer the screws through the opening to pierce it. Use a power screwdriver to drive the screws in.
Even though it was a long process to get this thing together (which is more a testament to my average assembly skills), my toddler LOVES it. He went to bed within ten minutes of lying down and never got out. He loves being with Thomas. Our mattress sits low in the bed so there's still a rim to help keep him from falling out. The smokestack can come off easily - not sure why there's not an option to screw it in place. Overall - I think this was a great purchase and Step2 was very helpful in assisting me on assembly.

We love this bed so much! We got it to replace our convertible crib/toddler bed, which our toddler absolutely refused to sleep in nine times out of ten- he preferred to curl up on his toddler couch instead, or find a “nice” spot on the floor.
