One of the prettiest shopping centers in Poland. A perfect example of the revitalization of an old factory. It should be a must-visit for students of architecture. I definitely recommend visiting this place! Next to it, there is a magnificent palace of the owner of the factory, Mr. Poznański.

.....it's claimed, and having walked from one end to the other, I was footsore by the time I completed my odyssey. The southern section is less obviously geared at shoppers: it's where the 2 cathedrals and textiles museum can be found. The middle section is where all the cafes and restaurants are and the northern section contains more shops, tourist information and culminates with a square currently under major reconstruction. There are quirky bronze statues distributed randomly along the central section, which attract a lot of attention - it's lucky to touch the nose of at least some of them, according to tradition. It's the hub of Lodz and therefore an absolute must on a visit here.

This is a former factory, now converted into luxury apartments and a small area with a cafe and a bar. The cafe does excellent coffee and pastries and is a popular breakfast spot.

The place to go to get away from the city for a while. Very clean and well maintained, perfect for a relaxing walk or a picnic.

Great museum and very helpful staff! The main building is disabled visitor friendly too (elevators, wide corridors, nice audio-guide with great audio-descriptions for blind and low-vision users)! Not sure about the wheelchair accessibility of the courtyard (cobblestone) and huts (thresholds), you should probably ask the staff at the ticket office. You can choose how many exhibitions you see depending on the time you have for your visit. Will definitely come back!

Many Polish cities have a tragic history connected to the wartime occupation of the country. Lodz is no exception. In 1939 a quarter of the city's population was Jewish. Although some saw the writing on the wall and were able to flee in time, many were forced into the city ghetto where they were used as unpaid labour until 1944, when forced deportations of the ghetto's inhabitants began to Chelmno and Auschwitz. It was from Radegast station in the North of the city that these deportations were organised. When Lodz was liberated by the USSR in early 1945, the ghetto was found with around 700 survivors. Everyone else had been deported. This reconstruction of the station building, with train and freight carriages pays tribute to the victims. There are information panels in English, Polish and Hebrew and a museum (which has an admission fee). Equally moving and melancholy is the concrete tunnel of memories constructed to take you from the carpark to the platform. It's a bit of a trek from central Lodz - I walked, and it took me over an hour - but it looks like a tram stops close by.

What an amazing beautiful piece of architecture. The exterior renovations are almost done (garden was still closed for us) and there is still more work to be done on main level - but what a treat that it was reopened when we were visiting. You can tour the rooms of where Karol Poznanski lived with his family - bed chambers, dressing rooms, drawing rooms etc and witness the life of a man who was extremely pivotal to the industrial rise of Łódź. A Jewish magnate, Poznanski would eventually see his empire fall prey to the Nazis. But this ‘home’ - really a Palace - is a great example of what Łódź used to be and how much money there was in the city at one time when it was a huge economic hub for Poland and Europe (late 19th early 20th century) and its rapid growth and industrialization. There is *also* a great museum in the basement that shows you up close and personal what life was like in Łódź - when Polish, German and Jewish families lived side by side until the situation became a nightmare. Worth visiting! A little disorganized and ramshackle but they are getting it together and pouring massive funds into restoring architectural gems throughout Łódź- it’s artsy, gritty and very cool to visit.

Last time I visited this ZOO seven years ago and have to admit that went through massive transformation. This is definitely something that city of Lodz could be proud of, and should be on a must see list for anyone visiting central Poland.

Tickets are reasonably priced and could be booked online in advance or bought at the entrance. Car park is quite cheap but some improvement could be made in regards parking spaces. Be aware of additional payments for no compulsory 7D experience in Orientarium. Prices of food at the food court are reasonable too, and choice and quality are very reasonable.

For even medium size group with young kids I would suggest at least half day if not a full day experience. Apart of animals and Orientarium, which is must see during visit, there is a playground for younger kids and a play park for older ones too. Everything seems to be in a walkable distance even for toddlers. Definitely will be back as soon as visiting this region in near future.

Good to see, if you like planetarium: You can join the introductions to the planet in several kind of projection. For example winter sky; Sky about Lodz ect.
Additional they offer the music presentation of famous group in the planetarium. Unfortunate I did joint Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of The Moon , but it must be good fun to be there during the movie.

I think this is called the Museum of the history of Lodz now? Anyway, it's Poznanski's palace that he lived in in luxury while his workers struggled with poverty. Enjoyed the Rubenstein rooms and the history of war on the lower floors. Without exception every single member of staff (about 5) we encountered were miserable and unfriendly and actually rather rude. Shame, no need.
