Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- TJeinsteinwoodDeal, UK410 contributionsReally beautiful! I didn't go in as it was too early but the outside of the building and the square is beautiful. Definitely worth a visit.Written 17 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- kzoggerChicago, IL612 contributionsMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Level 1 of the Hauptbau building, with the 18th - 19th century collection (rooms 13-31 were our favorites). Pisarro, Monet, Renoir, Chagall...beautiful paintings. Rodin statues and Picasso paintings were also amazing. Definitely worth a visit. We were not fans of the Dan Flavin special exhibition (or really anything) in the Neubau building.Written 9 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Audrey WSteinen, Germany3 contributionsThis was such a cool experience! It's a Rhine "cruise" on a budget! Ingenious execution of an ingenious concept. Lots of fun. Highly recommend.Written 6 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Gemma HManchester, UK99 contributionsGreat experience and such a reasonable price. I think it was about £10 each, which compared to everywhere else in Basel is a bargain. On each floor there is something interactive, whether that be paper making or printing.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Annio_7Belfast128 contributionsSpent one day in Basel and had a fab time. The following are just some of the spots I visited, easy to walk around. Spalentor City Gate, old town, town hall, Basel cathedral, (Munster), Tinguely fountain, cross the Middle bridge (Mittlere Burke) and sit alongside the Rhine in the sun. Lots of urban art, trendy, arty and foody. Depending on travel time, bucettes are between spring to autumn, city’s favourite places to meet for coffee, drinks or dinner. Basel carnival is from 4am Monday after Ash Wednesday for 3 days. Popular at Christmas, one of largest in Switzerland.Written 22 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CarlyEstepona, Spain8 contributionsAbsolutely fab. Such a great museum and exhibition. I also like the Cardiff&Miller exhibition which is perfect for this museum as you become part of the art pieces.Written 17 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Ken MWadhurst1,626 contributionsThis was a really lovely museum to visit - lots of old toys and teddy bears. You go straight up to the 4th floor and work your way down. You go around at your own pace so it is up to you how long you take (although I believe that they do have a guided tour if you wish to do that) - there is so much to see and it is very well put together and presented. I'd certainly recommend it for adults and children alike.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TAMAN1951Liberty Lake, WA6,678 contributionsNice fountain utilizing the stage props from the theatre destroyed by fire.
Very cool to watch the movement as the water sprays from the sculptures.Written 22 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The pluses are that there is a small supermarket inside - or keep walking with the station on your left and you will see a Coop. We liked the shop in the station that sold 800 beers from around the world. All very expensive but fun!
Signage inside isn't great for anything other than platforms and public bus/tram signs. We were looking to see how to get to the far side of the station and tracks to find the international bus (Flixibus) stop. No signs until you actually get to the exit. To find this, go up the escalator and walk over the bridge and then you will see the sign.
Toilets cost CHF 1.50 so find somewhere else unless you are desperate!Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A morning walk alongside the river was lovely (especially as the temperature was in the 30s and there was partial shade). The ferryboat across using the current was fun. But my favorite thing was joining the locals in the evening, to float along the river, with our clothes in our new Winkelfisch (great choice available in the big bookshop in town). Such great fun and so cooling on a hot day!Written 14 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
