during 1980s one cinephotographer in tamil flims Balumahendra filmed such scenes in his movies & motivated many &i dedicate this image to him . I am satisfied with the outcome of this image.

Why this graffiti was sprayed on this wall here, I do not know, I did not know it before ... That's what I found out about Kollywood: The Bollywood cinema is created in the Hindi film industry in Kerala. A big competition in terms of content and economy is the South Indian Tamil film industry, also known as Kollywood. The name is derived from the place name Kodambakkam in Madras and at the same time a variation of the better known Bollywood, which in turn was formed as a custody word from Bombay and Hollywood. Indeed, "Bollywood" produces more movies every year than Hollywood – and Kollywood is not up to it.

The entire credit for this picture goes to Ashwin. I, Gayathri and Ashwin went to shoot in the Elliots beach and had a fun session. I will admit Im not very much of an expert when it comes to noticing light and its effects on photography.
Ashwin pointed to the Karl Schmidt's memorial building monument that has been around Elliots for quite a long time now and been the shooting spot for every hero and heroine to run around and sing a duet in almost every other late 80's and early 90's Tamil movies. He said it was going to be cool to shoot the sunset behind this memorial and the people in it. He was damn right. Having the tripod allowed me to completely control my shots and go to higher F numbers that gave me this sharp output while silhouetting the characters.
Note, the silhouetting is not all this great. I did pull down some luminance and increased darkness in lightroom to get to this effect.
Large On Black works good for me.

I have been tagged by Jayashree and Madhu, so here are 16 things about me.
1. I think 16 is way too big a number.
2. I just watched a crappy movie and am watching another one now - my 10th movie this week. I'm quite a movie buff, but this series of crappy movies is something I've never done.
3. I don't usually like making lists, but am compelled to write this after seeing other flickr friends do it :-)
4. I like reading - anything. After reading the extremely influential Ayn Rand's works, I have hugely cut short on reading nonsense fiction.
5. I don't really "play" piano, but I like "playing with" my piano (well, keyboard, actually).
6. I've spent a TON of time on photography in the last 6 months.
7. I'm a vegetarian.
8. I hated Social Studies as a kid, but now am quite interested in History and Economics. And I've always liked Geography anyway.
9. I like dark chocolate. I am not much into sweets or even ordinary milk chocolate.
10. Cricket is my favorite sport. I spent so much time on it as a kid that my dad threatened to disown me if he saw me with the bat again. (of course, he didn't :P)
11. I like Philosophy and Psychology, and to think about the "why/how" of things.
12. I have a list of 'places to visit' (Peru to Turkey to Ireland to.. ), and I hope I get a chance to visit all of them.
13. I like music, all kinds of them. I sometimes tend to completely ignore the lyrics and just let the music/tune stick in my head.
14. I keep wishing that people looked at the bigger picture, stopped fighting about religion, money, gas etc., and worried about more important things instead.
15. While growing up, I wanted to be an astronomer, cricketer, and a doctor - ended up designing/writing software.
16. I once bought 'Learn Tamil in 30 days' book so that I could watch the following episode of Marma Desam in Tamil right after the one in Telugu. I managed to learn only a few words, but can now read/write Tamil. :D
17. And oh, I'm a *HUGEEEE* fan of Matrix.

Last year we visited this Lord Vinayaka , who is perching on a rock by the side of a beautiful water falls , overlooking a green and serene water side, inside Mundan dhurai Tiger Reserve Forest in Western Hill Range , near Kutraalam and Papanaasam in Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu. About two hours by car and 20 minutes of boat ride and 15 minutes of trekking take you to this place. First, Just say Hallo to the Lord, then get into the water falls are cool yourself for 30 minutes and come say Thank you to Lord Vinayaka. Offering, just a flower will do.
The Vinayakar idol you here very popular one even though he is in a remote forest. He has acted in movie Tamil movies , including 'Roja", where actress Madhubala perform abhisekam

I have been wanting to try my BW 1000x filter for quite some time (actually 3 weeks!) and I got the right opportunity (and a great company/) to completely test it out. Past weekend, I went with Amar to a fishing locale called Thalankuppam near Ennore, Chennai.
I have seen a picture of this bridge in a couple of tamil movies and have been meaning to go there to shoot ever since. So we googled extensively to find out the exact location, how safe is it to go there (we were initially planning to go there for sunrise photography - blame it on our stupid sleep schedule, we ended up going at 3pm!!). For anyone looking to photograph this place, this place is absolutely safe and not as remote as I thought it would be. When we went, there were quite a few people. A factory and a village are not too far either. With relentless waves and a dilapidated structure, one might get thousand different composition ideas and it's definitely a 'must visit' for any photographer living in Chennai!
Technical info: I shot this at an ISO of 200 and with an exposure of 20 seconds (thanks to the filter, I was able to expose for that long during bright day light to make the waves look foggy).

Mouna Raagam (Silent Symphony) is one of the nicest Tamil movies that I have watched. And it has some of the best songs too. :)
