When the list of new releases on Netflix comes out every month, it sometimes feels like the leading streamer has opened up a firehose of content of all types: scripted, unscripted, international, and more. With everyone’s limited time, it’s hard to figure out which shows you want to sit down and binge.
The crew at Decider know how tough it is to figure what to watch… and we do this for a living. So let us be your guide. Below are quick previews of what we think the ten hottest, most intriguing series to debut on the service in April 2021 will be. They aren’t all Netflix Originals (though most are because of that firehose); just shows we know people will want to watch. Which shows will make it into the Netflix Top 10? Only time will tell!

'Worn Stories'
PREMIERE DATE: April 1
CAST: Jenji Kohan, Morgan Neville (executive producers)
RATING: TV-MA
DESCRIPTION: Based on a book by Emily Spivack, the quirky docuseries talks to people about their clothes: collections, a favorite item from their closets, an item that invokes memories, and in one case, people who wear no clothes at all. Nudists talking about clothes! You can find everything on Netflix, can’t you?
'The Serpent'
PREMIERE DATE: April 2
CAST: Tahar Rahim, Jenna Coleman, Billy Howle, Ellie Bamber
RATING: TV-MA
DESCRIPTION: A story based on true events, The Serpent is about the crime spree of Charles Sobhraj (Rahim), who, along with his girlfriend Marie-Andrée Leclerc (Coleman), murdered Western tourists among the “Hippie Circuit” in Asia. A Dutch diplomat named Herman Knippenberg (Howle) helps put international law enforcement on his trail.
'This Is A Robbery: The World's Biggest Art Heist'
PREMIERE DATE: April 7
CAST: Colin Barnicle (director)
RATING: TV-MA
DESCRIPTION: This four-part docuseries goes into one of the biggest art thefts ever, when two men stole works from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Works from Vermeer, Rembrandt and others were taken; the missing paintings are worth over $500 million in today’s dollars. The series will go into the details of the robbery, the investigation, and where the works might have landed.

'The Wedding Coach'

CAST: Jamie Lee

DESCRIPTION: Jamie Lee, a comedian who has lots of experience with the mishaps and pitfalls that can happen during wedding planning, hilariously works with brides and grooms on their wedding days to get them past the hiccups. Every episode features a different comedian friend of Lee’s, such as Fortune Feimster, SNL‘s Punkie Johnson and Matteo Lane.
'Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!'

CAST: Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier, Kyla-Drew, Porscha Coleman
RATING: TV-14
DESCRIPTION: Jaime Foxx returns to sitcoms with the new family show, Dad Don’t Embarrass Me!. He plays a cosmetic executive who has to learn parenting on the fly when his teenage daughter (Kyla-Drew) moves in with him. He gets help from his dad (Grier) and sister (Coleman) but he’s bound to make mistakes. Wacky and slapsticky mistakes.
'The Circle' Season 2

DESCRIPTION: Remember when the first season of The Circle came out in January of 2020 and we all thought that it was strange to watch people alone in apartments yelling at a TV screen? Not so strange anymore, is it? We’ve all been living in The Circle, and a new season starts on April 14 with four new episodes. It’s one of the few shows where COVID protocols are more or less what the show’s been doing all along.
'Life In Color With David Attenborough'

DESCRIPTION: In the latest nature series from the esteemed David Attenborough, the host will show how animals see color to communicate and avoid danger. 'Shadow And Bone'

DESCRIPTION: Based on the “Grishaverse” novels by Leigh Bardugo, Shadow And Bone is about how a low-level soldier named Alisha Starkov (Li) finds she has great powers that can help free her country from the looming threat of the Shadow Fold. She trains with a group of elite soldiers called The Grisha and finds out that (gasp!) not everyone around her is as they seem at first glance.
'Headspace Guide To Sleep'
PREMIERE DATE: April 28

DESCRIPTION: In January, the folks at Headspace (with the help of Vox Media) gave us soothing animation and sound in an attempt to get us to meditate. Now they turn their expertise in mindfulness to the topic of sleep. The 7-episode series busts some myths about sleep but concentrates on training you to incorporate mindfulness in your day so you can sleep better at night. We tried the first episode and don’t even know how it ends, because we dozed off. That’s a good thing in this case.
'Yasuke'

DESCRIPTION: Created and directed by LeSean Thomas, this anime series is about a legendary African warrior named Yasuke (Stanfield) as he’s dragged back into the violence of feudal Japan to save a girl who is being chased by warlords and other agents of darkness.
