Both our junior teams who had qualified from the Munster competition competed in the all-Ireland series in Awesome Walls in Dublin on Friday.

Both teams competed well on the day and managed to gain podium finishes. We placed second and third in Ireland in their age category.

These second years can compete at this age category again next year in which they are setting eyes on the gold medals already.

Thanks again to Donie Murphy for his help and guidance throughout the year.

1st Year Soccer

Munster Semi Final

St Brendan’s 2- 0 Tralee CBS

The Sem progress to the Munster Final after a fierce battle with Tralee CBS.

The sides could not be separated for a majority of the match. As the game opened up in the last five minutes with both sides looking for a winner, Tralee CBS almost struck first only to be denied by a world class save by Ethan Clarke. Shortly after the Sem took the lead after great work from Clancy, Bennett and Hurley with a goalmouth scramble eventually finished by the excellent Eanna Hennigan. The Sem added a second a minute later after some great work by Bennett on the right, his cross slotted home by Ryan Vickers. Both teams were excellent on the day, a very sporting and exciting game.

The Sem will now face either St Francis of Rochestown or De La Salle of Waterford in the Munster Final.

Captain: Jayden Hurley

Player Of The Match: Eoin Bennett

A big thanks to Donie Murphy, Martin Muldoon and the grounds keepers from Killarney Athletic for the use of the pitch and facilities for the match.

All Ireland Playoffs
Our 2nd years boys were in the All-Ireland playoffs on Wednesday 24th in St. Vincent’s Castleknock College, Dublin. They had three tough games. The first game they played Patrician Academy in a tense game. Nothing could separate the teams at the end of regular time, so overtime was needed. Heartbreakingly our boys lost by a point. With no time to dwell on that game they were straight back on the court against Dublin Champions Castleknock College. Tiredness set in in the last quarter and only then could Castleknock pull away and eventually won the game. Our third and final game was against St. Malachy’s of Belfast. The Sem boys were determined not to leave Dublin without a win, and they got their reward with a hard fought win against St. Malachy’s.
A huge well done to the boys, they did themselves and the school proud.

Last Thursday night marked our school community’s annual Liam O’Connor concert, a cherished tradition filled with unforgettable moments. This year, however, held an even deeper significance as we celebrated the 10-year anniversary of this special event. Amidst the familiar melodies and heartfelt performances, there was an added poignancy as we bid farewell to a beloved figure, Mish O’Donoghue, who graced the stage for the last time.

The evening was punctuated by surprises as past pupils emerged from the wings to serenade Mish with a moving rendition of ‘Step It Out Mary’, a song etched in our memories from their triumphant journey on Britain’s Got Talent. Even the teachers, inspired by Mish’s spirit, braved the stage to belt out ‘The Auld Triangle’ in honor of their beloved colleague.

To Mish, we extend our deepest gratitude for the music, the camaraderie, and the invaluable guidance she has bestowed upon us. The legacy she leaves behind, after 19 years of cultivating a love of music and the arts in St. Brendan’s College, will forever resonate within the halls of The Sem and the hearts of all who were touched by her presence.
