ive been wanting to try out the first dota to see how its like, i just want to play some bot games to try it out, anyone know how i can dl it ? i couldnt find any dota 1 subreddits so figured i should just ask here :/

You have Warcraft 3 TFT I hope? If so there are sometimes maps posted for download there in custom games, but safe bet would be to just download on www.getdota.com .

You need the The Frozen Throne expansion. You can get the AI maps from playdota.com, look at the top right.
haha i actually thought that dotA was like a complete game, not a map, was surprised when the DL was 8mb xD
TFT doesnt come with RoC. You could have had just RoC and wouldnt have been able to play the DotA maps.
I think most ppl who own wc3 prob have tft because I would guess most copies sold after tft came out were the battle chests with both in them
8 mb was max size for maps if I remember correctly. So another problem pilling up for wc3 engine :)
Yes it is, however it used to be 4MB for the most time. Luckily blizzard increased the map size when DotA was getting very close to that limit.
