Is Zagreb back to normal after the earthquake? Looking to be there in October, hopefully.

Hi Bill, thanks for asking. Yes, everything is back to normal, we were unfortunate to have one in a 100 yrs quake in 2020,in Zagreb, and then another once in a hundred years in Petrinja-fortunately no big damage to Zagreb. I think lot of old beautiful buildings will be undergoing refurbishment-mainly fasades, chimneys and ornaments, roof tops etc. March quake did the damage.

However, hope by October things would get better, related to covid. Best regards!!!

Many buildings are currently being cleaned out of debris still, and being either demolished or renovated. One of my favourites (the house on the intersection of Jurjevska and Mlinarska) has been razed and only what appears to be the cellar/foundations remains but will be rebuilt. The caffe bars and restaurants have been closed for months, and a lot won't reopen. Tkalciceva looks so desolate and I do get a bit wispy remembering the throngs of people in the summer sitting and drinking in the evenings. Almost every other day I can hear tremors, it's so creepy and I always wonder if it will escalate. I walk by the Archeology museum often (closed) but a lot of their Roman artefacts are out side in the courtyard to view free of charge. I guess they're trying to protect them from further earthquake damage.
