Making Of Featurette For Netflix's Haunting New Horror Series MIDNIGHT MASS
I’m currently in the middle of watching Mike Flanagan’s new Netflix horror series Midnight Mass and so far it’s freakin’ fantastic! I’m loving this series and I can see why it’s Flanagan’s favorite project. So far from what I’ve seen, it’s perfection.
Today we have a making of featurette to share with you that offers a behind-the-scenes look at the series and the story that it tells. The video includes interviews with Mike Flanagan (Creator/Showrunner/Director) and Trevor Macy (Executive Producer) who have been working on this project for over a decade.
They discuss the genesis of Midnight Mass, which is a personal project for Mike that’s largely inspired by his Catholic upbringing. They described the show as a supernatural mystery, a character drama, and an overt horror experience. I’m so excited to see how the story plays out as I continue to watch it!
The series is set on Crockett Island, an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events and frightening omens following the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.
Midnight Mass “tells the tale of a small, isolated island community whose existing divisions are amplified by the return of a disgraced young man and the arrival of a charismatic priest (Hamish Linklater). When Father Paul’s appearance on Crockett Island coincides with unexplained and seemingly miraculous events, a renewed religious fervor takes hold of the community – but do these miracles come at a price?”
The cast includes Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights, The Purge: Anarchy), Kate Siegel (The Haunting of Hill House), and Hamish Linklater (Legion) set in lead roles. Joining them are Annabeth Gish (The Haunting of Hill House), Michael Trucco (Hunter Killer), Samantha Sloyan (Grey’s Anatomy), Henry Thomas (The Haunting of Hill House), Rahul Abburi (Killer Ransom), Crystal Balint (The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco), Matt Biedel (Altered Carbon), Alex Essoe (Doctor Sleep), Rahul Kohli (Supergirl), Kristin Lehman (The Chronicles of Riddick), Robert Longstreet (Doctor Sleep), Igby Rigney (Blue Bloods) and Annarah Shephard.
