96% Tomatometer 45 Reviews 95% Audience Score 500+ Ratings A groundbreaking documentary directed and produced by Andrew Jarecki and produced and shot by Marc Smerling (the Oscar nominees behind "Capturing the Friedmans") delves into the strange history of real estate heir Robert Durst, long suspected in the still-unsolved 1982 disappearance of his wife as well as the subsequent murders of family friend Susan Berman and neighbor Morris Black. It features an extended, revealing interview with Durst himself, with whom Jarecki developed a unique relationship following the release of "All Good Things," Jarecki's 2010 feature about Durst's life starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst. "The Jinx" results from nearly a decade of research by the filmmakers, who expose police files, key witnesses, never-before-seen footage, private prison recordings, and thousands of pages of formerly hidden documents. John Doyle Globe and Mail The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst has an unnerving quality and there is something uniquely chilling about its subject, Durst himself. May 12, 2020 Full Review Eric Deggans NPR It's the ultimate in reality television... But Andrew Jarecki accomplished even more... He created a new version of true-crime television, exploring an unresolved case in a series centered on interviews with the eccentric, self-destructive prime suspect. Nov 26, 2019 Full Review Melissa Maerz Entertainment Weekly The Jinx might make amateur sleuths of us all. But judging by this gripping, stranger-than-fiction detective story, Jarecki's the real thing. Rated: A- Jun 15, 2018 Full Review John Tones Espinof A documentary as fascinating as the subject of its study. [Full Review in Spanish] Mar 27, 2024 Full Review Kate Summerscale London Review of Books Durst emerges as a slippery, damaged and manipulative figure, and it is hard to tell whether his involvement is driven by a desire to control the story or to surrender to it, to lie or to confess, to be relieved of his fictions or to perpetuate them. Nov 6, 2018 Full Review Claire McNear The Ringer ...one of the most jaw-dropping moments in recent television history. Aug 7, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Nawt W This true crime rabbit hole might seem a little bit petty at first and really would've been so if Robert Durst didn't "wisely" decide to narrate every excuse, every supposed motive, and every circumstantial lead this decade-spanning case has against him. The finale of the series will probably immediately prompt you to Google where this man is now, only to unfortunately find out that justice has eluded him until the end. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/26/23 Full Review Gareth v Compelling, chilling, weird. This is one of the more bizarre murder mystery doco's you will see, and it will have you hooked. The best docu-series of 2015. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/24/23 Full Review Coby N Perhaps the best true crime docuseries ever. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Audience Member LOL, the funniest real people acting like maniacs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Great Docuseries! Must see for any fan of True Crime Shows! The only thing that holds this back from perfect is the last episode...It just ends and the entire episode is kind of manufactured build up, to what is ultimately his confession, as he is having a Bowel Movement! lol Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review jaime h One of the worst, most overrated shows ever made. Unbelievable from first minute until final second. Just awful. The women are written like assholes, the cop brother in law is a fucking moron, and not a single thing is believable about the plot. Junk show for junkies Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
