Scott W Much better than The Son of Katie Elder. Not as good as Eldorado. Not even close to Wayne's best. James Arness has a confusing bit part. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/17/23 Full Review Kevin B One of my favorites really enjoy this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Christopher B Hondo was directed by John Farrow but certainly reminds one of John Ford's films and stars his usual A-list actor John Wayne in a Western film, albeit a little offbeat one. The tone is unique and one that differs and the story is unique and has a lot going for it however. John Wayne gives another solid performance and the film is brisk, running under an hour and a half and is well-paced and has enough action in the latter part of the film to make it entertaining enough. Not the best of Westerns, but one that is unique and solid overall. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/02/22 Full Review Boneyard L This movie is a pretty standard Western, though tamer than most. It's a fun time, baseline enjoyable, an adventure without being adventurous. Closest comparison: It's like Shane by way of Rio Bravo, both of which are better films. Setting: Western Plot: Western Tone: Western Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/20/22 Full Review Audience Member One of the great westerns. This is right there with The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, The Searchers, and True Grit. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Liam D It's your typical western story but it's told in a very adult and mature way Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/07/21 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Rated: 3.5/4 May 30, 2021 Full Review Peter Canavese Groucho Reviews Stands out as one of Wayne's best-remembered features, a smooth Western co-produced by Wayne and shot at the tail end of the '50s 3-D craze. Puccio Movie Metropolis ...an intelligent yet thrilling film, long on talk but with sufficient derring-do to satisfy most fans of the Western genre. Rated: 7/10 May 19, 2012 Full Review Emanuel Levy EmanuelLevy.Com Directed by John Farrow in 3-D, this Western resembles George Stevens' Shane (released few months earlier), based on the premise that to become a real man every boy needs a father (biological or surrogate); the film marks Geraldine Page's screen debut Rated: B Oct 29, 2006 Full Review Read all reviews
