John Krasinski ditches city life for a band of mid-American misfits in the new trailer for his Sundance hit The Hollars.

After previously directing the 2009 independent comedy Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, which also premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, Krasinski pulls double duty on his latest project, as he both stars in and helms The Hollars, his follow-up directorial effort.

The screenplay, written by Lonesome Jim scribe James C. Strouse, revolves around a New York City artist returning to his small-town home after his mother is diagnosed with a brain tumor. The new clip shows what happens when John finds himself at the center of the family dysfunction he thought he left behind, additionally grappling with a high school rival and an ex-girlfriend he’s still very much attracted to as he prepares to father his own child with another woman back in the city.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Anna Kendrick, Charlie Day, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Randall Park, Richard Jenkins, Sharlto Copley, singer Josh Groban, and Margo Martindale.

Sony Pictures Classics acquired the comedy the same day it premiered at the Park City-based event in January. Krasinski tweeted a photo of a Sundance crowd honoring the film with a standing ovation, writing “To those in Eccles theater this morning to see #TheHollars…You’ll never know how much this meant to me. Thank you.”

The Hollarsis set for an Aug. 26 release. Watch the new trailer for the film in the video above.
