Robert Alan Krieger, born January 8, 1946, in Los Angeles, is a musical performer and The Doors guitarist. He attended UCLA. “The first music I heard that I liked was Peter and the Wolf. I accidentally sat and broke the record (I was about seven). Then I listened to rock ‘n’ roll – I listened to the radio a lot – Fats Domino, Elvis, The Platters.

“I started surfing at fourteen. There was lots of classical music in my house. My father liked march music. There was a piano at home. I studied trumpet at ten, but nothing came of it. Then I started playing blues on the piano?no lessons though. When I was seventeen, I started playing guitar. I used my friend’s guitar. I didn’t get my own until I was eighteen. It was a Mexican flamenco guitar. I took flamenco lessons for a few months. I switched around from folk to flamenco to blues to rock ‘n’ roll.

“Records got me into the blues. Some of the newer rock ‘n’ roll, such as the Paul Butterfield Blues Band. If it hadn’t been for Butterfield going electric, I probably wouldn’t have gone rock ‘n’ roll.

I didn’t plan on rock ‘n’ roll. I wanted to learn jazz; I got to know some people doing rock ‘n’ roll with jazz, and I thought I could make money playing music. In rock ‘n’ roll you can realize anything that you can in jazz or anything. There’s no limitation other than the beat. You have more freedom than you do in anything except jazz – which is dying – as far as making any money is concerned.

“In The Doors we have both musicians and poets, and both know of each other’s art, so we can effect a synthesis. In the case of Tim Buckley or Dylan you have one man’s ideas. Most groups today aren’t groups. In a true group all the members create the arrangements among themselves.”

Most people know Robby Krieger as the consummate music artist in his role as former guitar player and songwriter of the legendary band The Doors.
What shouldn’t be surprising is that creativity has no boundaries and many times artistic expression will spill over into more then one medium for the artist.
Robby Krieger is no exception as demonstrated in his creation of a collection of spectacular, never-before-seen works of art…now available to art lovers and Robby fans.
Now, through the charity services organization, ART FOR A CAUSE, limited edition, giclee prints of his beautiful paintings will, for the first time, be available to the fans of Robby Krieger.
“I hope my paintings brings joy and love to art lovers for many years to come.” – Robby Krieger

🔥Darkness falls across the shadowed halls of intimacy, she takes her final breath. She leaps into the waters of death, leaving behind her lovely fragrance of beauty, self proclaimed fame and one lonely child to fend for himself in this world of massacre. Darkness falls across the shadowed halls of intimacy. Where are we going with this lonely twisted modern day masscarade called society. We think of others only judging ourselves against what is believed to be our true selves. Darkness falls across the shadowed halls of intimacy. Intuition so it is said should guide us through. Subconscious then may not be true. Although race religion culture and creed may tear us apart there is one thing holding us together as human beings. Love, for love is the battle that will forever be fought but will never truly be won. Love will always burn the flames that ever so stretch the lengths of eternity. Darkness Falls across the shadowed halls of intimacy. Bullet Head Jim Morrison Jr The Library of Congress

My rock family history ❤️

My determination to complete building my recording studio in a Thai village, in north west Thailand, so I can get back to what matters after over a year of construction, which is the music, of course!

My Collection of Pants…. Next album title?

When all my friends were listening to top 40 radio as a teenager, I was blasting The End!! Meeting you was one of the best days ever Robby! Would love to golf with you if you’re ever in Pennsylvania. Keep rockin!! 😎

Youre a treasure.

Yo brother Robby Krieger I love your pants very cool 😎 indeed Mine is hats. I've just acquired a deer stalker hat in tweed Sherlock Holmes styley. And a tweed half cut with excellent pockets. I live in the heart of the country. Glastonbury town Somerset You must pay it a visit Glastonbury tor is amazing you'll absolutely love it there's something really special about. But pilton is not in Glastonbury. But if your ever playing in England tour dates you must come to Glastonbury. And go up the tor we could take a guitar the acoustics in the st Michaels tower are fabulous.

Robby Krieger My striving to live my life the way I want to, and not how others tell me I should.

Playing guitar or ukulele in the ocean

Cool Robbie how is the SG playing these days..what year is that bearing in mind they were still called les Paul’s in the early 1960s…nice axe man 🎼🎸🎶

Hi Robbie, The books I’ve written. And the next one, for Jim Morrison. The Silence In Every Sound, about a journey (Katabasis) into the underworld where I go see Persephone & Hades to seek Eurydice for Orpheus. It also has a double album I wrote for it. I know what you feel. I know what you lie to conceal. Dreams within your eyes. I know what you sleep to hide. You should have known the wisdom of silence. Mixed together with love’s strange violence. Hoping for an easy gain, But with love comes so much pain. © 2024 Eric Sander Kingston

I'm hilarious at times, this ain't one of em,but yeah ringading

This picture was taken 25 years ago! One of my many books about The Doors! My daughter is 28 now! I think she was in love with Morrison because of this book and the front cover picture!

Love the pants! Mine would be a serious collection of books and plants.

The Flowers I plant in my yard. I like unique Flowers. I also Love the Music you play and also The Doors Music. You are one Unique Musican... 🌸🏵🪷🌹🥀🌺🌻🌷🪻⚘️🎵🎶🎸🚪💜

You are the king of cool 😎 Big fan since 1967, best guaririst EVER!

Your style of playing is sooo distinctive… it will live forever

Either my collection of 50+ Hawaiin shirts (I'm a LA native), or my collection of 80 T-shirts

My visual art and music.

Oh, Robby, your guitar style is from the hand of God original. Jim was awesome, but as mild mannered as you always seemed to have been, the Doors would not be immortal without you. I know that was 'early days', but Robby's clean, exotic guitar style has never been duplicated in a world overflowing with master duplicators. Your next breath will be unique, Mr Krieger. What is unique about me? I try to tell people how positively they affected my life while they are alive instead of mourning with strangers after they leave. Thank you Robby.

You do have some great pants Robby! From your last Pensacola, Florida gig! I loved your show so much I gotta do it again and fly out to LA to catch you Soft Parade gig in July! I'm so excited to see you and your cool pants again!

Love them Robby. Hmmm my hair probably but thats not a collection. My gothic style things. And boho hippy stuff. Collection of 4 kids 😂

Mine would have to be my music collection! Cds... I've got so much that I love including every Doors title!

Unique to me is what comes out when I play my Gibson SG, or various other stringed instruments I've acquired and lived with. A friend from a musical family told me that I had my own "sound."

Love your pants!! Be yourself! That’s what we all should do! ❤️

My ability to keep moving into new musical territory. I was a progressive rock lead guitarist (for 50 years). Now I’m working on classical piano.

Robby is great on slide...not surprised Jimbo wanted it on every song.

Sitting in on Road House Blues 😉🎶👍🏻

The time a few years back I got your autograph in Asbury Park New Jersey. I had your CD that you signed, you were warm, gracious, friendly and delightful - you shook my hand and we shared a great moment. I told you how important your music was and is to me and I explained that I’ve gone - from a 13 year old kid who’s mind was immediately blown by Break on Through and Light My Fire etc - to become a professional musician myself who plays jazz guitar and teaches and records.

The first time seeing you with Ray as 'Riders on The Storm' back in '08 was very surreal, just never would have thought I'd ever get the chance. Then meeting you before several shows since, you are so amazing with fans and that guitar in your hand! Looking forward to catching you again this summer for the 9th time!

Saw you, Ray and Ian Astbury along with the rest of D21C in NJ around 2004. A dream come true for me to see you and Ray play live. I will always cherish that show 💯

Listening to and seeing your incredible guitar playing, with your son’s excellent vocals! The Palace Theatre Greensburg, PA. Thank you!

Anyone else find it amazing that Robbys, still creating and playing music after all these years! I am to young to have seen, The Doors live. However, since I first heard them as a kid, I’ve been huge fan! Right up through adulthood. The music they created is still inspiration for Millions of people both musicians and none. The legacy of the Doors will live on for 100s of years!

I was front row center, at the show in Indy . I was there loving it so much. Could not believe I was seeing you live. But I was so happy that I was able to share with my “niece” Maya Harris . Still one of my favorite nights ever.

In the middle of jamming on light my fire they turned it into an Elenor Rigby instrumental and back into light my fire! Very intimate venue in Pennsylvania for an audience under 500

Robby is still so awesome on the guitar as ever all these years and a great intelligent man to talk to. ROBBY music and THE DOOR'S music will live forever. Keep Rocking Robby.

And The Cult I saw that show blew me away unfortunately im too young to ever have actually seen Jim Morrison live ,Ian Astbury was incredible live the tones in his vocals blew me away you were a great fit together 🖤🎤🎶

Loved Robby & the band at the Hermosa Beach. A magical day, surrounded by the legendary songs and the beautiful waves!

Love you Robby!

One of a kind. God bless brother, Thank you for the muse.

Jumping on stage and standing in front of you while my buddy stood next to Ray , seconds later house lights came on ,the stage was full of people and you guys never missed a beat . This was on your 21 st century tour in GP Texas . Thank you . One of my favorite memories

Watching you play that amazing guitar and Al of those incredible songs. You still got it. Thank you

My most memorable experience wasn't at a show I attended. When I was 8 in 1966, mo oldest brother got his license. One night it takes me out and we end up on Sunset standing outside the Whisky to listen to the Doors playing inside. I'm sure a short, fat kid standing amongst the hippies was a sight, but I was hooked. When the debut album came out, I used my birthday money to buy what was my 1st album. My love continues to this day

Did you come to Tampa?

Saw you September 1 1968 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Band was very tight!!! Morrison jumped into the crowd. I remember Back Door Man and The End. Also did Unknown Soldier. Great memories.

Seeing you play guitar while your son sang for over two hours

saw you and Ray and Ian Astbury in London wembley arena and the round house Camden town yet came back for the 40 th anniversary to the round house two brilliant shows robbie rest in peace ray and Jim

Me singing Roadhouse Blues with you and your band in Tarrytown NY in 2015 . Just epic to be up there with you .

Never got to see you live but I bet they are all great shows! Love the pants by the way!

This is why you were in one of the best bands ever

In San Francisco at Winterland or the Fillmore I was completely mesmerized that night buy you guys!I was up in the the bleachers one song after another was great I believe it was in1968 .
