I’m into the 4th book now. I like the characters; the good guys are really acting in an altruistic way and so far have stayed ahead of the bad guys. The books are fast paced and keep me up late at night. And the plot is not so transparent that I can guess what is going to happen next.

This is an amazing, fascinating, compelling series that I highly recommend to anyone with an inquisitive mind and curiosity about the life forms on this planet. I’ve been eating and breathing it for days, at the cost of everything else I should have been doing; now I’ve finished book 5 and now I'm at a loss what to do with myself! The ideas and the concepts and the storylines and the seemingly disparate threads that eventually come together in one gestalt…fantastic! The range of subject matter is beyond impressive. There’s espionage and action, there’s scientific inquiry and advancement, there’s morality and values and politics, there are delightful characters and relationships. And so much more. The prose style itself is less than exciting, and there are a lot of grammatical errors; I got past those things quickly, as I got caught up in the wonderful story, intelligence, and themes. (There have been grammatical problems with almost every Kindle edition I’ve read, so although I don’t know anything about the “Kindle-izing process,” I tend to blame Kindle for the grammar and spelling errors. Those of us who grew up with strict training in grammar can miss a lot of good reading if we let such things turn us away.) If you love storytelling, you’ll love this series, and if you like to think it will give you a vast amount to ponder. I can’t wait for the next installment!

Gripping, well paced, realistic... those are just some words to describe this book! Each character is fully developed giving background and allowing the reader to follow their individual journey.

The story is beyond dystopian, I'm not even sure the author was going for dystopian but this book... my goodness. I'm trying to not give spoilers but the questions most readers would ask, what, how, who... the answer BLEW me away!!! So well worth the read, I'm so glad that I bought the 3 pack so I seamlessly went from one book into the other.

Ripple the next in the series already promises more adventure superb writing and character development and a deeper insight into what could actually be happening in our world TODAY! WOW!

Creative storyline with multiple twists

This box set was my first interaction with this author. He has cleverly crafted a cast with myriad and diverse skills: marine biology, genetics, computer engineering, animal behaviorist, Navy SEALS and slipped in a romantic side story.
When the mystery of declining ocean levels was revealed, I wasn’t planning to finish the books but was curious about the other storylines: communication with another species.
I was intrigued when the dolphin translation software worked and the gorilla communication was enhanced. When the miracle plants were secretly harvested by the Chinese, I was not surprised by their stereotyped subterfuge.
There are familiar storyline devices and the expected US military action intervention; however, the twists and turns of the story were enough to engage me.
I’m not sure if I will read the other books in the series. If your are looking for a young adult level story, try a sample of this author’s work. You may be intrigued.

What did I like the most? I like the accuracy of the science and how well it’s blended with the fiction. But I love the romance without the demeaning and degrading vulgarity of too many novels today. This book or series of books proves that immorality is not necessary for a great story. There are still some people in the world with class, striving to maintain high moral standards in spite of the swirling sewage that too many find acceptable these days.
What I didn’t like is the constant insistence that this planet and everything on it is a result of evolution. Evolution is a dead end that leaves so many important questions about life unanswered. It has never been proven so why continue to insist that it’s based on facts. There are no high moral standards in evolution.

by the second book, it was repetitive. It portrayed animals as equal to or more valuable that humans. In a scene where a man takes a bullet to protect a chimp, the alien doctor says of the choice, "you finally understand." I love animals myself, but a human life is of infinitely more value, in my opinion. Apparently, the author does not agree.
