The Blake School Reviews
Rating 4.06 out of 5 103 reviews
I have been at Blake since pre-k and I would say that my overall experience has been tumultuous from a social perspective, informative from an academic one, and confusing from a school functionality one.
To begin, the social culture at Blake could be easily deemed horrendous. The majority of students are extremely competitive about grades and college. (By the way, do not come here before high school. There is no financial point) There have been many instances I can recall where I overhear discussions about the absurd amount of pressures that students face from their parents and the absurd expectations they hold to themselves. The school is socially taxing and very very very cliquey. It is hard to make friends plain and simple.
The academics are PRISTINE. English and SS departments are highly robust and provide a path of thinking that leads to nuance and understanding rendering critical thinking.
The administration has been inconsistent, way too uptight, but with some standouts.

The Blake School has provided me with a quality education and will get me into a very good college, and most of the teachers are very nice. However, I think that the school has some problems, mostly in the fact that it is very non-diverse but not in the way you'd think. The school is very racially diverse, much more than Minnesota is. However, in terms of ideas, it's very one-sided as most teachers and students are super far left and unwilling to budge or accept opposing ideas. Some kids, like myself, feel very suffocated beneath the liberal-or-wrong thought at the school (I even lean left). The school as a whole has a lot of performative activism where they try to be super progressive but end up looking pretty fake. The teachers are high quality, kind, and smart but can lean towards left-ist indoctrination (mostly unintentionally). The school is overpriced and few scholarships are given to white people, so a white working-class presence is nonexistent. Overall the school is fine.
Blake is an amazing school that overall brought me to be a better person the this earth that we live on.
