@GeneralZod - Superman 78 will be nearly 50 years old by the time Legacy opens next year, and Man of Steel wasn't exactly loved by the general audience, so indeed, no pressure at all.

@GeneralZod - Hard to compete with John Willaims in general lol, Hans Zimmer Flight isn't the Superman theme right? Isn't his theme from the 3:01 mark of Blood of My Blood, because thats the one Zack Snyder always plays when Superman enters a scene.

@Th3Batman - The Superman 78 theme is timeless and iconic, even to Gen Z (not General Zod, but Generation Z). My kids, who have no affinity to the 78 film, IMMEDIATELY recognize the score. Hell, everyone recognizes that score. MOS might not have been loved as a film by most audiences, but Henry Cavil and the "Flight" score were very much appreciated by those audiences 10 years ago, so not very long ago.

@Th3Batman - The fact that people recognize the 78 theme 50 years later shows how iconic is. And even though MOS may not have been loved universally, the theme was deffo one of the most praised aspects.

@mastakilla39 - Zimmer came up with a few memorable 'sub-themes' in MOS that I personally think, "Superman" when I hear them. I think "Flight" is the most uplifting (no pun intended) and memorable of them all.

Nothing in any other CBM beats John Williams' opening score from the 1978 film, but this Zimmer piece is a masterwork.

Tbh the scores from TSS & Vol 3 didn’t really stand out to me within the film (which to a degree is a good thing) , especially since the soundtrack was so prevalent in the latter atleast.

I’ll try to hear them in seperation and see if I like them better or not , same with Murphy’s other work such as Sunshine etc.

I wish him luck though , he’s following in the footsteps of giants such as John Williams & Hans Zimmer so no pressure lol.

@TheVisionary25 - Hes a solid composer. I think being able to build a score that blends into a film is underrated these days. To be perfectly honest I have more of Murphys work in my day-to-day playlists than I do Zimmer by a long shot. I’ll add a score by Murphy as a whole to my playlist whereas Zimmer or even Williams I tend to pick certain pieces and leave the bulk of it out.

You are right though , his score isn’t distracting and might even be servicing the film while Zimmer’s can sometimes be overpowering now.

@TheVisionary25 - Zimmer seems to be more overpowering with his music as he goes on. I don’t feel that subtlety has ever really been his strong suit. Zimmer doesn’t really make scores IMO, he makes soundtracks.

Other than the theme for GOTG, nothing is really memorable from him. Marvel music is mostly temp music anyways, except for a few themes. Loki is the first project with actual movie music that's memorable lol. Oh well

@bobevanz - The GOTG theme is by Tyler Bates, who scored the first two. Gunn would play his music on set, and did the same for The Suicide Squad, only to announce John Murphy was doing the score instead. Murphy then went on to do the third film, using Bates' leitmotif.

First big L coming outta Legacy imho.
Music is such an important part in movies in general but especially for me, hiring a damn good composer for this project could've been a huge W, instead we'll get a flavor of the week type of music, f*cking Gunn and his inability to explore some new shit, mf always has to work with the same bunch of losers, smdh...

not a bad choice, I loved Ratism from TSS, it made me cry when I watched the movie so the guy knows what he's doing.
