Three More Dorking Car Parks Resurfaced as Part of £2m Car Park Refurbishment Project

South Side Car Park

Refurbishment works in three Dorking Car Parks: Junction Road, South Street and West Street have been completed following Mole Valley District Council’s (MVDC) car parks refurbishment programme in Mole Valley.

The car parks benefited from resurfacing and relining to ensure larger spaces are created where possible. Overgrown vegetation has been cleared and the drainage systems surveyed and cleaned in order to reduce the risk of flooding. New signage will also be installed in the next few weeks.

Councillor Clayton Wellman, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy and Security said: “I’m glad to report that refurbishment works across our Mole Valley car parks are progressing well. Our residents will be able to enjoy a better overall experience when parking in town centres, with these latest works finished just in time for the festive period.

I would like to thank our contractor B & M McHugh Ltd for the swift delivery of the works, and our residents for all their patience and understanding.

“I would also like to encourage you to do your Christmas shopping locally and support our businesses. You’ll be spoiled for choice for unique local products and support our local high streets through this difficult time. Mole Valley also has a fantastic selection of independent cafes and restaurants, so make sure you find time for an indulgence break while out shopping.

We’ve got our special Christmas Saturdays free parking coming up. So, if you’re not walking or cycling to town centres, you can benefit from free parking in all MDVC’s car parks on December 10, 17 and 24.

“Don’t forget that parking in Mole Valley’s car parks is free every Sunday, on bank holidays and after 6pm every evening, all year-round. Additionally, we have 45 ‘30 minute free’ spaces across the district.

With all this on offer, let’s make sure that this Christmas is special, local and brimming with festive spirit. Our Dorking Christmas Festival starts at 6.00pm on Thursday 1 December, and I look forward to welcoming our residents and visitors there.”
