Hello. Dtr is very interested in being a dentist. She was accepted to UCB L&S college, [UCSD] biology & UOP predental advantage program. We wanted to choose UOP if their class size remained the same around 70 people like 3yrs ago but now they have doubled their class size to 140+ which means competition to go to Dugoni is more. It seems like 40-50 people make it to Dugoni from our research. Which will be the best choice for her? Is it very competitive to achieve a good GPA @ UCB and UCSD??

I don’t know much about dental school, but unless she is 100% sold on becoming a dentist, and is confident that the UoP program is a solid plan, it might make more sense to choose the college she likes best, and then apply to Dental school if she decides to go. I’m basing this on the fact that MANY (most?) students change their majors, and that I personally would much rather spend 3-4 years in Berkeley or San Diego than Stockton.

Also, UCSD says 85% of their students who apply get into dental school, so it’s not a sure thing, but that seems pretty high. I couldn’t find data for UCB. Dentistry
