Tamaqua Police Log

Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• Carina Elizabeth Leach, 24, of Tamaqua, is facing charges of resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at 1:46 p.m. June 1.

Officers were dispatched to Boyer’s Market on Cedar Street to assist adult probation officers who had Leach in custody. Probation personnel said they were taking Leach into custody on a warrant and she resisted and grabbed handcuffs.

Leach also had white glassine packets commonly used to hold and store narcotics.

• Matthew Damon Barnisky, 33, of Tamaqua, is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, misbrand of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On May 27 at 2:30 a.m. officers were on patrol in the 300 block of Arlington Street when they saw a man picking through garbage which was out for pickup. Officers stopped to speak to the man, who was identified as Barnisky. He was told there was a borough ordinance against what he was doing.

Police then ran a check and found that Barnisky had an active warrant from his arrest issued by county detectives. He was taken into custody. He had two syringes and an unlabeled bottle of pills. He had several small clear plastic baggies in his wallet and eight more syringes in his backpack.

He was taken to the county prison in Pottsville on the warrant. Drug charges were filed.

• Bonnie Lee Braxmeyer, 63, of Tamaqua, is facing a charge of defiant trespass for an incident on June 8.

Police said the landlord at 107 Coal St., reported a trespassing incident. He said Braxmeyer had been evicted previously from the property and when he checked the property he found Braxmeyer inside. “No trespassing signs” were posted on the property.

The officers found Braxmeyer inside the property and issued a citation.

• Lena Zizzo, 56, of Tamaqua, is facing a charge of trespassing.

Police said the manager of the apartment building at 37 W. Broad St., had notified Zizzo she was not permitted on the property. However, police were told she entered the property on May 29, 30 and 31 and June 1, despite receiving official notification she was not permitted on the property. Charges were filed.

• Quentin Lightner, 34, of Tamaqua, is facing a charge of disorderly conduct.

On June 9 at 4:04 a.m. police were dispatched to the area of East Broad and Greenwood streets for a disturbance. On scene officers found no one in that area but Lightner was among people at the corner of Greenwood and Cedar streets.

After being told several times to return to his residence along Greenwood Street, Lightner kept returning and was eventually taken into custody and charged.
