Prague was our last stop on a three week journey through Eastern Europe. My travel agent insisted that we stay here and I am so happy I took his advice. Not sure how anyone can give this hotel a poor review. Check in was easy and Martin escorted us to our room and showed us how to operate everything, a very personal touch. The room was not very cool by American standards but it was soon resolved by a call to the front desk. Service was exceptional and everyone knew our names after only a few days. You must take the monastery tour as it shows how well this hotel was restored. Our room was huge and we were in the second least expensive room. It was more like a junior suite overlooking the gardens and very quiet. We heard no noise from the street and my husband is a very…
Walked casually passed this hotel and notice an advert on the glistening white wall for St Thomas's beer - but the unassuming entrance caught my attention. Returned for a very late lunch and from the concierge at the glass entrance we had our first experience of the St Augustine's hotel. The decor was just fabulous and suited the taste my friend and I liked. Now to the meal - the starter was heaven sent - cucumber gazpacho with avocado and prawns - it was like eating a cloud - light, flavoursome (the mint - chilli ??undertones) words like veloute came to mind. The main course mine was good but how could you follow such perfection - rhetorical question. My friend had the gazpacho too followed by wild boar ragout - he said it was the best meal he had ever had. The service was…
I was lucky to stay in the Augustine recently for a work trip. Having not made the booking, nor selected the hotel, I didn't arrive with any expectations. Driving through the archway into the courtyard I knew I was in for a special treat. There is something so special & unique about this hotel. Perhaps its the romance of its history (being a converted monastery), blending so perfectly with modern amenities & superb service. Often I find hotels are either perfect for work, or perfect for holidays. And I have to say the Augustine is perfect for both. Opening into a large foyer with access to the bathroom & separate closet going off each side, the bedroom itself was large & comfortable with separate armchairs & a desk (I'm always thankful for a desk on work trips). Would I…
My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Augustine for two nights earlier this month as part his 50th birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived in Prague to the final moments of our departure we received exceptional, warm and caring service. We arrived via train, in this case the Orient Express, and the hotel's driver was waiting directly outside our carriage when the train pulled into the station. From there we were whisked away to this absolutely stunning hotel where we were greeted with champagne during check in. Our room was beautiful and wonderfully curated with lovely art and books. The hotel had also arranged for a birthday cake and a bottle of champagne to be delivered to our room - a special touch that made our stay that much more memorable. For all…
The hotel is tucked away in central Prague suit is not so easily found but once you have found it you should be pleasantly surprised with how good it is. Try to avoid rooms facing the street where the trims runs by and you could feel the vibrations otherwise it has been a great find that I have returned to several time. The spas steam room and sauna are free, and the gym is adequate but nothing really special. The real treat is the bars and the St. Thomas beer that is brewed exclusively for the hotel. There are tasting glasses so you can try before you buy. The hotel was a former monastery and you can sk for a tour of the monastery which the remaining portion is next door.
This hotel is awesome, service standards where high and the rooms were surprising big. Quite hotel, make sure you don't get a room on the road where train comes through. Great beds, great everything except muesli for breakfast needs improvement it wasn't good at all. Will definitely come back, Amazing beds
This is a terrific! hotel. It is smack in the center of the old sections of Prague and withing easy walking distance of the most attractive sights. You feel part of the scene. Great restaurants nearby and a very good one in the hotel. The rooms are sumptuous and very comfortable. Heated bathroom. Great sauna, exercise, and massage services. Helpful and gracious staff. Quiet! (but avoid the side near the trolley tracks). This is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.
We stayed for 4 nights in late April 2014. From the first moment we arrived, to the moment we left the attitude and attention of every member of staff transformed our stay from very good to quite outstanding. We've been fortunate to enjoy many hotels across Europe but very few have come close to the excellence of this one. The site restrictions, being in a historic monastery in Central Prague, probably don't make it easy. But this place, and its staff, are outstanding. We enjoyed every moment. It is central, and thus enabled us to sight-see in small chunks, then we could rest for an hour or two at the hotel. Don't miss the exclusive St Thomas beer. A special place made special by its people.
We stayed for three nights in early May 2014. Great position, in a very quiet place in Mala strana, that is not crowded of tourists but only five minutes walk from Charles bridge. The rooms are really nice, with a great care of all the details and with appropriate service. The staff was very helpful and we really appreciated the very warm hospitality, including the champagne at the arrival. We had a very pleasant stay, I really recommend this hotel.
We had our Wedding day here and although it is a special day in itself, Augustine actually added to it. Great venue, great atmosphere, great setting, great management, great food, great GREAT people. Would consider getting married again just to go back there. I cannot recommend this place highly enough for anyone who wants an event to go without a hitch and who wants all of their guests to comment on 'how great a place you picked!!!' My sincere thanks to all of the staff at the Augustine.
