This Cathedral was the last attraction on our City Bus tour and steps from Old Town.  We visited on a Sunday and were lucky to be here when a choir was practicing.  Their voices further enhanced the grand, peaceful and inspiring interior.  Check out Calvin's Chair (symbol of the Protestant reformation) as well the stained glass windows.

We decided to climb the towers for the view.  Admission to the Cathedral is free but it is 7 Euros to visit the towers.  The first climb leads to the South Tower where the view is mostly from inside.  Walk across to the North Tower and after more steps, the reward is more of a panoramic view.  The steps were narrow and curved.  They had lights to manage the up/down stair traffic.  Fun and an adventure if you're ok with tight spaces.

The reward is a great view of Geneva including the fountain.  Well worth the fee and climb!

This was a pretty nice church for a Protestant church, but like a lot of them it was fairly skimp on the religious art, but that it fairly usual for a protestant church (unless the church is either Anglican or Lutheran, though a number of Anglicans really do want to get rid of the art, it if wasn't for the fact that the government has slapped a heritage listing on the church - and so they should). Still, this is quite a nice church, and it is also the church where Jean Calvin was based while in Geneva. Oh, there is a little shrine to the side if you want your dose of religious art.

      Definitely worth a visit

There is a lot of history to see here. Calvin's chair, Artifacts from the 16th century, the archeological dig and the items found.

Pretty church with lovely stained glass windows

It's a really nice short work to cathedral.  The surround area is lovely.  Multiple outdoor cafes are right outside of the cathedral.

There is also an archeological dig right under the cathedral (for additional $).

This is a very unique cathedral, as it changed hands between different denominations and represents a critical part in the metamorphosis of Swiss history.
It also houses John Calvin's actual chair which he used to preach from.

There are lots of really nice views are the top. The inside is pretty too. It's just a lot of stairs to climb so if you get tired easily just be aware of that. They also only take cash to go up but it can be Francs or euros. There are two towers once you get up there so make sure you see both sides. The bells and the views for the panorama. It's a great view of the city. One of my favorite things that I got to do in Geneva.

A hilltop cathedral with lots of rocks downstairs.

If you like Swiss churches built upon ancient rubble, St Pierre is a must visit.

Beautiful church, but modest relative to the churches you will see in Paris and other large European cities. Definitely worth the visit. You can also view an archeological dig around the church for an entrance fee.

I can't believe no one has reviewed this place! It's such a tourist spot. So The St. Peter's Cathedral in Geneva is primarily the main attraction in Old Town. There are three towers (one copper spire in the center). The northern tower is where you can actually go up for a fee) and see a great view of the city on a clear day (like today, but it was too darn cold!). In terms of cathedrals, it's not crazy elaborate, but your typical cathedral. It had an impressive pipe organ in the back. Make sure before you head out that you head towards the left. There's another room with a lot of pretty stain glass windows. As my mom told me, make a wish whenever you go to a new church. So I did.

As soon as you get to Geneva, you understand why it isn't included in most travel guidebooks for Switzerland. Its Old Town, though, is nice, and at its center, you find this Cathedral. The Catherdrale is not memorable - it isn't as romantic as churches in France, as precious as those in Italy, or as adorable as what you see in the Berner Oberland and the Simmental, but it is historical, and it made me smile, which is why I will generously give it 3 stars (also because of my guilt in giving a church a 2 star rating). Enjoy the view of the Old Town rootops and the lake with its Jet. A man selling brochures pointed to the John Calvin's chair and said, The chair represents the kind of person John Calvin was. I didn't know what to think - small, unwelcoming, uncomfortable, cold, undecorated, unkempt, scratched-up?
