Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Amazing views from the towers. If there is only one thing you have time for in Geneva, this should be it. The archaeological site in the basement is also worth it.

The cathedral is quite plain in the main nave and down the side aisles. However, just to the side of the main door there is a chapel that is exquisitely decorated. Beautiful colours and such a contrast to the main cathedral. A hidden gem.

We just barely made the last entrance to the towers for the day. Just as we were coming down, the carillon began to play. Magical to hear the bells while looking across the whole Geneva landscape.

Free to enter the Cathedral and then 7 Euro per adult to climb the north and south towers. Well worth the money to see such history inside and then the views from the towers were magnificent

Okay, so I admit I work out more than the average person, but do not be scared of the stairs. If you can do stairs okay normally, you should be fine! AND the views are so worth it!!

This incredible building was on the other side of the lake from us but we still made sure we got a to visit it. It was certainly worth it and it took our breath away.
It is absolutely vast but beautifully maintained. We tried to get some photos of it from a distance but it is up close where you really appreciate how magnificent it is.
There was a music fair on when we were there and lots of little stages of been set up around it and the atmosphere was fantastic.
So much history in this town but this really is the jewel in the crown.

It is a bit of a walk up to the cathedrale from the centre of Geneva. The building itself is impressive. You can climb up to the top of the tower on a spiral staircase. It is quite a climb but the views from the top are spectacular.

Somewhat hidden behind other buildings and doesn’t appear to be the centre of the city. The tower sticks out but doesn’t necessarily overly impress from a distance. To get to see the detail you need to be right up close. Once in the old town you can find yourself walking around the tight little streets and finally make it to the square with the impressive looking columns and grand staircase. Its well maintained exterior looks very clean. I could not go in at the time as there was some kind of organ playing and appeared closed to the public. Walk around the other aspects of it and you could get a better look at the towers and spire. Definitely better at close quarters but seen more imposing and dramatic cathedrals.

This magificent cathedral will leave you in awe. The combination of breathtaking architecture, the untold stories of thousands of congregants that came before, and the peace that permeates the cathedral make this a truly wonderful experience.

My husband and I are visiting Geneva with our two kids(2&9 yrs) in two weeks time. What is the story easiest way to travel to the city centre?

We used a taxi. It’s the quickest way, especially with two kids in tow. It costs about 40 Swiss francs
Hi, is it easy to find you way around? Is there a desk which you can pay to go up in the tower

Hi Sophie, The cathedral is not that big so you don’t need any guides or maps. For going up you need to pay inside and yes There is always someone to help.

Hi, kanjer2015. What would you like to know about this attraction?
When I looked at the Cathedral website it was all in French (sorry do not speak French)and I could not find or try to decipher the opening times anywhere. Can anyone please help as we would really like to visit it. From from I could see the Secretariat was only open during the week - is the cathedral not open at weekends? Surely it must be open on sundays?

Hi, do you know any inexpensive stay for short term theological study in Geneva? Maybe like dorm of a seminary or retreat place of a church there? Thanks
