Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

- JJJC_Family810 contributionsI really liked this churchIt’s front is hidden behind another building, but its spires let you know something special awaits within. It is somewhat elaborate, but tastefully so. Black and gold is everywhere and it works so well. The moment I walked in I was in love. I suggest you take a look at the photos online. There are some that gives you an excellent feel for the place. I found it elevating and redeeming and profoundly spiritual. This is another church where I could easily see myself attending services regardless of what denomination it is. There is a peacefulness here that is a precursor to contemplation. And as a pure tourist, I just enjoyed walking around, so much so that I kept doing so until they threw my wife and I out as their mid-day siesta started. I intended to return, but alas, we did not. ‘Tis a pity.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 July 2023
- GAR243 contributionsBeautifulThis is a lovely, quiet church. I thought the entrance was a little difficult to find, as you have to go through a little alleyway. But it was worth the difficulty. - CristinelRomania197 contributionsBeautifulBeautiful church looking and guarding Starometske Namesti. Lovely and very quiet inside, worth to get in. Perhaps would have been better to have access straight from the main square but the entrance is from the lateral alley. Anyhow, beautiful.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 August 2023
- WanderingOttersonsDenver, Colorado1,382 contributionsQuick and free stop inside, fantastic from the town squareIf you're in the main town square, it's hard to miss this place. What can be hard to miss is the way to the front door. On the east side of the town square is some restaurants in the buildings in front of the church. You have to go through the archways down the center to get to the alley and the door. Once inside, it's very beautiful. So different than the two large churches across the river. It's much more simple and well lit and a great stop for free when in old town.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 August 2023

It was tricky to find the entrance. Look for the archway between two awnings of the Italian restaurant in the building directly in front of the church. This archway will lead you to the church. We attended an evening concert here, too. It was a nice way to end a day of sightseeing.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 October 2023

There were signs everywhere saying not to take photos, but people were taking them anyway. In any case, this is definitely worth seeing.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 October 2023

This church is of Gothic style and was built from the mid-14th to the early 16th centuries. At the end of the 17th century, the interior was transformed into Baroque style. The cathedral serves as an extensive gallery of Gothic, Renaissance and Early Baroque works and the organ within dates back to 1673, and is the oldest in Prague.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 February 2024

A fascinating building located at the old town square. The architecture is amazing. When the church is lighted in the evening the view is magical.

lovely church inside, however, the Czech's have this funny habit of building houses in front of a church facade! You enter the church through an archway which has an Italian restaurant on the side.

Hi everyone. Quick question. Are tourists allowed to climb either of the 2 bell towers of the church . Getting conflicting reports from various web sites. Many thanks

No and also you can't take pictures and a "donation" is required to get in.
Is there a way to get to the top of the towers?
