Local, Key West bartender here. I placed an order online for pickup Sunday 4/28. I'm very aware Sunday mornings are busy, but this experience was so unacceptable I had to come here to write my only review. An exceptionally rude female at the pickup/order counter ensured that I will never go back to La Grinote, just as I have never gone back to their sister restaurant, Moon Dog: both always have rude service. This gal, dark hair, European, could not be bothered to help in any way. When I told her I was there to pick up an online order, she gave me the most annoyed look, asked for a receipt, and promptly walked away. I stood there, fumbling with my phone for a text message and email: neither offered a receipt, just tracking. When I finally got her attention again, she came over with the same rude demeanor. I gave her my name and asked if she could check the to-go bag on the counter that was right behind her. She turned around, grabbed it and dropped/plopped it on the counter in front of me and turned around and walked away. No thank you, is there anything else I can get you…..nothing. I'm constantly asked by visitors where to go for breakfast in Key West...this will come immediately off of that rec list. This girl is someone I recognize as she used to work at my place of employment. I get that we (bartenders and servers) work in a busy, public-facing industry that is challenging when constantly faced with tourists...but come on! It's just not that hard to be friendly or nice. I would have to work to be that rude. Come on, La Grinote!

We ended up here one afternoon and wish we had realized how great it was sooner! Perfect spot to pair with the butterfly conservatory. We decided to try the “famous honey cake”- brilliant decision. It’s very unique and you can taste the expertise that goes into making it. The patio was pleasant and the staff so kind and attentive.

New owners have maintained this little gem. Food is still very good and service continues to be prompt. Tends to be a little busy and you may have to wait a few minutes

I ordered delivery. Nothing wrong with the delivery service. The restaurant sent something I didn't order in place of a caprese salad. Now I'm stuck with something I can't eat.

Casual, crowded with great breads and baked goods but most importantly great taste. However its not just a bakery its a bakery that is using the great baked items in the meals. The choices are different from most breakfast locations but all good! Coffee choices were also good.

I had the most delicious flourless muffin I’ve ever had here. Great coffee too. We stopped for lunch and I was so excited because of my previous muffin experience. I ordered a Cobb salad and my husband ordered a pesto chicken sandwich. Salad was tiny, children portions, not enough lettuce. We ordered the pesto chicken because on the menu it recommends it on a croissant, but does not say it’s a $3 up charge.

This cafe is a must when you are in Key West! The owner was very friendly and welcoming! Enjoyed his story as to how they got their start in Key West! The food was delicious and you must try the Honey Cake! They made our day very special!

Absolutely a MUST to eat at! The story of who owns it and how they got started was super adorable.
The owner was there working both times which shows the passion they have for their business. The staff was so polite and attentive. The food..... UNBELIEVABLE! I ordered the French breakfast and have never had such delicious yogurt with homemade granola and fresh fruit like that before. The quiche during our second visit was fabulous. The coffee was strong and amazing! My favorite in all of Key West!
Highly recommend and not quite sure why this isn't on the top 10 list because it deserves to be.

Use to be great. Now it's rather poor. There are too many great breakfast places in key West to waste your time and money here. When Babbette owned it, it was great. No more.

Excellent!!!
Lobster eggs Benedict & Chicken pesto both served on a buttery, flaky croissants. Sat on the front porch enjoying our meal & people watching.

We had a light lunch here and what a delight it was. The panini were freshly made and the service was friendly and efficient.
Situated at the quieter end of Duval, the atmosphere is relaxed.
Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

We go to Florida every year and have at nearly every breakfast spot in Key West. This last trip we ate at La Grignote for the first time. It’s by far the best place in Key West. We ended up eating there every day we were there. The owners, Denis & Katie, put so much love and detail into every dish. And definitely get the honey cake! Can’t wait to come back!

This tiny French-themed bakery on Duval is a wonderful place to visit for truly excellent baked goods and delicious breakfast fare. You need to plan on arriving as soon as they open for the best selection of tasty baked delights, because they are well-known and loved by residents and visitors alike.
