The weather was perfect and we arrived early just before opening time. Nice to be able to park at no further cost and to not rush and deal with crowds. There was a steady stream of visitors who were just as eager as were to explore this villa and the grounds.
We decide to explore the grounds which is a good decision before it becomes toasty hot. We ambled along the impressive gardens discovering the mangroves, beautiful gazebos, stairs, and water cascades, the rose gardens, sculptures, orchids, champion trees, banyans' complex root structures, and even more spectacular was the tea house, the barge, and the boat landing and the striped gondola inspired poles.
Inside the villa, we enjoyed visiting the rooms, the musical instruments on display, and the unique chandeliers especially the little caravel which is also the logo/emblem of the estate. The self guided audio tour was helpful and provided very relevant information. I would have liked to have more information of James Deering while there; I had to research afterwards.
    Worth the visit.

It's a good place for taking the pictures, having a short walk through the park and parking is easily available, so bonus points there.

I have had several birthday parties (4 or more mow) for my son here, but each year I find less and less value. Spent $500 (10 people) and is was just ok. They say 90% of games work with timed access cards but I swear it seems more and more games are not included, or at least Most of the cool games. And many games we used to enjoy are now gone. Not sure if its new management or what. Just not as great, had a birthday room with food for just one hour this time and food was late. I gave a three because staff was good / and not understaffed which was good and place is big and theres not many choices,.,,.Service was overall good (except the lateness) and booking agent was quick and efficient, but also a few games not working. Just had no wow factor. Management needs to really look at how many games are red cards only now! Greedy I suspect. Thats the worse thing, i walked around and really couldnt think of anything i wanted to even
Play that was available....And had to also wait, we were there on a Saturday and on timed play and had to wait alot for lots of games, etc.

They consider a skin fade/shape up for Black hair to be a specialty or “premier” service. I think that’s the absolute most basic service you could get down at the barbershop, y’all! They expected me to intuitively know to book an extended session because they think it requires much more work than the “basic maintenance” that comes with a “classic” cut. A Black barber, or really any good barber, could do this in 12 mins flat, probably while texting. (Part of their process which takes time I realize is a wash and rinse, but that’s not ideal for a fade anyway, y’all!)

They did offer that I call in advance next time to request a special appointment with one of their stylists with experience doing “textured” hair (read: problematic hair). But, if you’re Black you know exactly how this conversation goes… straight up ignorance shrouded in a half-hearted apology that still makes you the difficult one rather than they who haven’t considered this. Super hurtful all around.

Truly, it’s kind of on me to have an expectation of something different… I’ve had enough experiences at white-centered salons where I’ve been turned away or told to wait for the owner to arrive because they were the only one able to do my hair. And despite my hopes that hair culture might one day become less segregated, this experience totally reinforced the ongoing existence of complete cultural ignorance or even discrimination.
