Titletown South Florida: The Miami Herald’s new high school sports show makes its debut

The Miami Herald has had a longstanding tradition of covering the best of the best high school athletes in South Florida.

Over the years there have been different incarnations of a weekly high school football/sports show.

We’re happy to announce we are bringing such a feature back with the introduction of our new show - Titletown South Florida.

Why that name? Because that’s what South Florida high school student-athletes do in pretty much every sport in which they compete.

Miami Herald Deputy Sports Editor Andre Fernandez and Miami Herald Sportswriters David Wilson and Jordan McPherson will be co-hosting the show on a weekly basis throughout the high school sports season.

The show will feature discussion of the latest topics in high school sports, highlights and interviews and we will break down the top matchups every week during football season.

We will also spotlight players, coaches and individuals in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

In our debut episode, Fernandez and Wilson talk about the football season through the first three weeks, break down Chaminade-Madonna’s lopsided win over Miami Northwestern and bring up the discussion as to which South Florida national powerhouse may be the best. And if Miami Central and Chaminade played - which unfortunately they are not scheduled to this season - who would win?

Wilson also interviews Miami Central coach Jube Joseph on his first season as the Rockets’ coach.
