South Miami Middle Center for the Arts is a middle school with 9 magnet programs. It offers a unique curriculum that includes core classes and 2 hours of art, music, chorus, dance, broadcast, photography, theatre, band, or orchestra. It has been an A school for 20 years. Academics, safety and student well-being are the top priorities. It is one of the best middle schools in Dade County.
The school is alright for a public school. The ability to take highschool courses is available and is what I recommend. The teachers vary drastically one teacher is super nice and gives you A’s without assigning work or a teacher who makes the rules change very five seconds. Overall it’s a pretty good school as long as your in a magnet
At south miami middle , you will make great friends .. The teachers are so nice , they make you feel like you are family , as if you are their child . I wouldn’t say the food is good . But the Teachers make learning so much fun .
I mean its not the worst or the best middle school, sports and activities and great here but academic wise it could be much better.
The facilities in the school are great. The auditorium is large and well equipped for all of the performances done by the magnets and clubs.
Due to all of the different magnets and clubs, the tolerance for people with odd or different interests is high.
The magnet programs such as orchestra, art, drama, dance, photography, and band also had related clubs open to all students. The clubs were easy to join and had many events.
The doors leading into the school are rarely locked or guarded by security.
The application process was quite simple, while lengthy . First, application papers must be filled, then the date was set for the audition. Once the audition was complete you wait for a letter that tells you whether you were accepted or not.
The teacher are ok not all are great, scheduling process can be a little messy and crazy, workload ok , and study options are not as well.
I enjoyed somethings at this school like my friends and some classes, but the lack of spirit literally bums me out at times and has made me want to change to another school.
Towards diversity we have a great amount but at times people can be prejudice towards Hispanics in my school. so they have tough time being accepted here and not being made fun of.
The food at times could be good but half the time it can revolting .
our school spirit honestly is not the greatest , we barely even have any spirit.the fitness program is fairly well but the team performance could be better we need more participation.
Overall in this area administration and policies are pretty great
Overall towards the health and safety in my school it is fairly good. The school nurse is pretty helpful and towards bullying it does not happen quite often , if it does it is a rare case.My school is safe we have securities almost everywhere , always doing their job to maintain us in school and in class.
In my school there is a great amount of teachers that are actually pretty great. They communicate with the student pretty well and keep focus on the lesson they are teaching. and do a lot of hand on activities so that the lesson could be educational but at the same time fun.but there are some teachers that honestly just talk throughout the whole class and don't teach us anything.I can say during Geometry although the teacher was a sweet heart , i learned nothing and the games goes with Algebra 2 . i basically learned nothing , and the format they used to teach was not the greatest method/
