Ms. Christine de la Rosa
Christine de la Rosa attended the Miami-Dade County Public schools. She earned a bachelor degree of music education and a certificate of music composition from Florida International University in 1991. Mrs. de la Rosa served as a state president of the Florida Collegiate College Music Educators Conference. Mrs. de la Rosa has taught vocal and choral music at the elementary, middle and high school levels. She spent her early teaching career in the middle and elementary realm of education. In 1995, Mrs. de la Rosa began teaching at South Miami High School’s music magnet program as the choir director and theory instructor. She led the choral program at South Miami for eleven years. It became one of the top magnet schools in Miami-Dade County. In 2002, Mrs. de la Rosa received her National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification in music. In 2009, Christine de la Rosa and her husband, Alfred de la Rosa, co-founded Miami Arts Charter School. Christine serves as the Associate Director and Choral Director for the school and teaches both middle and high school choral students. Her choirs have consistently earned Superior ratings at district and state performance assessments of the Florida Vocal Association. Mrs. de la Rosa’s choirs have also won numerous national competitions including three grand champion awards in 2000, 2002 and 2004 in the Jazz Vocal category. Five of her students (spanning from 1999-2013) have been selected to participate in the national Grammys in the Schools high school jazz vocal ensembles and her choirs and jazz vocal groups have consistently been recognized throughout the state for their high level of excellence. Her jazz vocal ensemble has also been featured on Russell L. Robinson’s Jazz Style and Improvisation for Choirs DVD published by Alfred Publishing Company. She has been selected as guest conductor of numerous honors ensembles including the Superintendent’s Honors Chorus and the “We are America” patriotic concert in 2001. In January of 2013, she conducted the All-County Broward High School Honor Choir. In April of 2015, she conducted the Miami-Dade County Middle School Honor Choir. Mrs. de la Rosa is a member of the Florida Vocal Association, Florida Music Educators Association and National Association for Music Education. |
