We want Sophie's to be a place where one could have a good, hearty meal (comfort food), simple and unpretentious, at a fair price. Our goal is to produce an atmosphere where people can come for lunch, a full dinner, a late snack, a glass of wine or a big cup of coffee and feel comfortable and at home. Our menu is diverse enough for everyone, yet simple enough so the average person will not get overwhelmed with numerous menu choices and complications. Our basic premise is to provide quality food and good service at a fair price in an unpretentious atmosphere. The décor is modeled after classic French Bistros. We are “regulars” here as we love the food, staff and ambiance. We went for lunch today and I had the soft shell crabs dish. All I can say is, “Wow!” It was absolutely incredible! We also had the liver pate as an appetizer, which is always delicious! I think we have had everything on the menu, and Sophie’s never disappoints. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

There has NEVER been a time that we have gone to Sophie's Bistro and been disappointed-NEVER. This was no exception. We LOVED the French onion soup. As I have said before, I now eat it nowhere else. I am not even tempted. We enjoyed the ½ roasted chicken, the lamb shank, the duck, with absolutely great gratin, Le Coq Au Vin de Sophie, the bread pudding and Cappuccino. If you have a chance and you want to enjoy a truly wonderful meal with very pleasant ambiance, make it you business to go to Sophie's Bistro. You won't be disappointed.

The food is delicious and authentic french, served in a low key bistro setting. The price point has risen significantly though. A very expensive evening.

Always an outstanding meal and experience. Peter never disappoints from the regular menu or the specials. Last night's lentil soup was delicious and the fruit crumble was so satisfying (both were specials last night). Already looking forward to our next meal there.

Terrific discovery. We had a late afternoon Sunday lunch that featured well prepared food, a simple list of good wines, and great service. Almost precisely what one wants from a French bistro -- would have been better in Paris or Lyon.

We are from Long Island and our cousins are in PA. I searched extensively for a mid way restaurant with good reviews and style. Sophie’s Bistro was a joyful experience for us four from start to finish. Genuine French flavors and many delicious choices on the menu. We had the Vol-au-Vent, steak frites, crevettes and Boeuf. All superb. The pâté and fondue as apps were great to share amongst four. I can’t wait to return !

Food was good but did not like how various waitresses started hovering the moment dessert was done ! Couldn’t have made it more obvious they wanted us to pay and leave. Pity.

Another delicious and super enjoyable dinner at Sophie's! Cocktails and food are always spot-on, as is the impeccable service. We both started with their incredible French Onion Soup, which is absolutely never a disappointment. We were there during their Mussel-fest, so I ordered the Moules Dijon, which was so, so good! Unctuous and full of flavor. My husband had the Seafood Vol au Vent and he almost licked the plate clean. As it was our anniversary, they brought us a complimentary crepe dessert with a candle, which we both thought was a really nice touch. It was a wonderful evening and we will be back!

We were taken to a table for 2 in the back dining room (our favorite) . The ambiance of the back room is wonderful. Our server was wonderful as was our food and beverage. As always our dining experience at Sophie’s was amazing. The staff works so well together and the cuisine is so amazing.

Those who have read my reviews of Sophie’s Bistro know that I no longer eat French onion soup ANYWHERE else. Yesterday I threatened Peter with a lawsuit if he ever let his chef leave. Yesterday we enjoyed a Cosmopolitan, lamb shank over couscous, roast chicken with French fries and of course, French onion soup and a cappuccino. As I said in my ‘Star’ review, food, service and ambiance were excellent! If you have the chance to get there, you owe it to yourself to try Sophie’s Bistro. It is truly worth your time.

We went to Sophie’s Bistro to enjoy their Winter Mussel fest going on until 3/17/2025. As always the mussels were perfectly prepared. We had the Killer Moules Dijon made with cream, white wine, garlic, shallots, lemon and herbs. Served with Sophie’s Pomme Frites, Aioli and a wonderful bottle of wine made for an outstanding evening.

Lovely spot for French bistro fare. Service was really warm and friendly and the place has a nice relaxed vibe. Dishes were very solid and well portioned even if certain elements may have evolved from the very traditional spirit of the dishes. Overall had a great time and wonderful meal and will certainly look to return.

The food here is the best value French food in NJ. It is delicious and well worth the price. The vol-au-vent Champignons appetizer was my favorite highlight, but it took nothing away from their excellent cocktails or delectable potato au gratin. The protein for the entrées could use a little work as my table asked for medium rare for all of our meats, but everything came out a little closer to medium. All the desserts were delicious and assured that I'd come back again! Make sure to bring cash to save 3%.

A very comfy-cozy French bistro atmosphere with an appropriate menu. The bleu-gruyere-muenster fondue was superbly DELISH. The fish main course dinners were very well prepared with very tasty vege sides, including a fantastic potato gratin. The wine list was competent at good price levels. I would really recommend this place.

What a fabulous place for brunch! Sophie's Bistro has it all - great food and service, lovely atmosphere, and the best French bread I have ever eaten outside of France. Big parking lot too. And conveniently located halfway between Philadelphia and NYC. We had a wonderful time and we'll be back.

We've been coming to Sophie's for more than 20 years and in that time, the food just keeps getting better. This time my sister-in-law came with us. It was her first time there and according to her, it won't be her last. It's our little piece of Paris in the middle of Central Jersey.

Sophie’s Bistro has been a favorite for us for many years. It is our “go to” restaurant for any special occasion. As a matter of fact, we had our wedding there in November.

While the food was wonderful, the escargot have been better in the past. The mushrooms in pastry were fabulous, and my Coquille St. Jacque was outstanding. Ginger Kiss drink was fab, salade with walnuts, apple and bleu was perfectly dressed. The only issue was an $8.00 surcharge to use a credit card. Credit card fees are the cost of doing business, they don't belong to the guest. In New York it's illegal to do this, and should be the same here. Even though the food was fabulous, it leaves a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth when a dining establishment does this. It's tacky. Please don't pass your costs of doing business on to us.

My friends enjoyed the excellent brunch. I ordered off the brunch menu because I wanted that delicious trout that is on the dinner menu and they accommodated me. It was delicious as usual.

We ordered mussels off the appetizer menu. They were not very good. My husband had been here previously. He had gotten the steak and frites and really enjoyed it. Other business associates of my husband have been here and enjoyed the food. We will order differently next time.
