Donald Strutz Obituary

November 15, 2008 Donald A. Strutz, 93, of Elbridge, died Saturday at River Hospital in Alexandria Bay. Mr. Strutz served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in France, Belgium and England, where he met and married his wife, Pam. He retired after more than 40 years of service with the New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail railroads. He attended Borodino United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling. He enjoyed fishing and spent 25 years of his retirement on Skaneateles Lake fishing. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Emma "Pam"; two daughters, Donna (Fred) Wise of Canastota and Pamela (Jim) Carr of Alexandria Bay; a son, Michael (Connie Smith) of Vermont; two brothers, Robert of Bridgeport and Lawrence of Liverpool; two sisters, Helen Tucci of Syracuse and Marion Pollock of Mattydale; grandchildren, Tracey Pomeroy and Tyler Smith-Strutz; stepgrandchil-dren, Jennifer and James Carr Jr.; a great-grandson, Alex Pomeroy; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Borodino United Methodist Church. Burial for the family will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home, 1217 North Salina Street. In lieu of flowers, contri-butions may be made to Borodino United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 1820 Route 174, Skaneateles, NY 13152.
