HIST 439 - Global Freud: Psychoanalysis and the Clinic in World History

Explores the psychological experience of colonialism by grappling with Sigmund Freud’s corpus in its historical context as well as the translation into clinical settings in both the colony and postcolony. Emphasizes how peoples extended, subverted, and displaced psychoanalytic thought within non-European contexts historically.
