A very warm welcome back to a still somewhat chilly and windy summer term!

It is always a joy to see how seamlessly the girls transition back into school routine and are no doubt helped by the lighter, brighter mornings and the greenery budding forth. Despite three weeks away from Town Walls, school life has never really stopped; our superb estates team have been busy decorating spaces and developing our new pavilion on Crescent Lane, and our U13-15 girls have been all the way to Paris on the superb netball tour; a huge thank you to Mrs Fenner and her team for giving of their time during the holidays.

We ended the last term with Drama exams and begin the new with GCSE and A Level Art exams; exam season is fast approaching and it is good to see our Year 11 and 13 students deep in preparation and studying hard. Alongside the academic challenges and activities of the summer term, just in this first week we have had trips to West Wales and Condover for our senior pupils, welcomed numerous Year 5 pupils from local schools to work alongside our own for the Techathon, and launched the annual public speaking competition for pupils in Years 3-6. Life is always busy at the High School, and it is in this industrious atmosphere that our girls thrive. This weekend the Bronze D of E practice expedition sets out and let us hope the wind settles down for them!

Our core pillars of Character, Endeavour and Achievement were not arrived at by accident. It is by immersing yourself in a busy schedule, trying out and engaging with every new opportunity, that you learn to succeed, and fail, and you become a successful person, with the confidence to tackle any situation. Through engagement in sport, drama, the arts, music and academia, our students learn to take risks, to believe in themselves and each other, and will go on to do great things. Speaking of music, we hope to see many of you at the Summer Concert next Thursday at St Chad’s; tickets are available from Reception and on the door on the night.

Wishing all of you a successful and happy summer term.

Cwtch Club- After School Club led by our Sixth Form LEAD Diploma students.

We are Cwtch club – led by Lwsi, Christy, Emma and Zoe in year 12 and we are taking the GDST Leadership, Enterprise Advanced Diploma. Our  aim is to help students learn to prioritise their mental and physical wellbeing in a fun healthy and inclusive environment.

The Welsh word Cwtch is defined as a cuddle or a hug which creates a safe place in a home or a heart. We have chosen this name because our ethos is all about helping young children understand positive mental health.

We are holding an after school club for years 3 – 6 (4.00-5.30pm) with a range of activities which are fun and creative, these will run over a course of four weeks during the Summer Term (commencing Tuesday 4th June). So, if you want your daughter to have a Summer full of fun, this is the perfect opportunity. They will have lots of activities including dancing, a summer picnic and to top it off, a Treasure Hunt  to help them relax before the Summer.

A letter regarding this will be sent to parents of Junior School girls next week.
