KURI, Raymond, Sr. – died Sunday, January 23rd after spending a joyful day with many of his grandchildren, all of whom were the center of his universe.  Born in Haifa, Palestine in 1940, Ray immigrated at a young age to Paterson, NJ.  He served with distinction in the U.S. Army for two years, then began a long career with Johnson and Johnson, during which he earned his M.A. from Rutgers University and climbed the ranks of management at J&J. He then spent a number of years with the Castrol Corporation, the Brick Utilities Authority, and finally with the Ocean County Bridge Department, where he worked until his death.


 In addition to his devotion to his family, Ray was deeply committed to his faith.  He served as a Trustee of his beloved church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Point Pleasant, NJ.     


 Ray is predeceased by his parents Moses and Maria, his sister, Berta Passno, his brothers, Carl, Jack, Joseph, Alphonse, Frank and Alfred, as well as his beloved grandson Isaiah.  He is survived by his sister Selma Conklin, and brothers Fred, and Jamil.  He is also survived by his son Ray, Jr. his daughters, Suzanne and Leila, and her husband Alan Renouf; his grandchildren Raymond, John, Eden, René, Chris, Crystal, Lauren, Hasson, Jesse, and Kuri, as well as his great grandchildren Layla and Ayden, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.


Visitation will be held at The Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ on Thursday, January 27th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  A funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Friday, January 28th at 9:00am.  Internment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa, NJ.  In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 708 Hwy 88, Point Pleasant, NJ 08742
