“At our first brand [Rogan, started in 2001], we pioneered a lot of the denim washing that makes denim look authentic and vintage,” Scott Hahn recalled. “Our impact in terms of scale and commercial relevance was small, but we creatively had a big influence. We had a lot of editors and stylists and actors wearing it. So suddenly it became really trendy, and all the bigger brands jumped on this creative theme of making jeans look old and washed out and cozy. But that’s a very wasteful process because you’re using a lot of water—you’re taking a brand new fabric, and you’re washing it down. You’re bringing a product to its end of life and selling it as new. [Designer] Rogan Gregory and I were like, ‘Wait if we’re going to start a second brand, the world does not need another brand like this.’”
They try to use recycled goods and materials where possible. The clothing is also made with free-trade goods.
To that end, U.S.-based Mexican chain restaurant Chipotle has looked to Loomstate to design and manufacture their uniforms. Chipotle has been a leader in sustainable fast food, and teaming with Loomstate is just an extension of that plan. Hahn is also the chair of the Sustainability Steering Committee for the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

Hahn Has Been Dating Winona Ryder Since 2011
Hahn has been Winona Ryder’s date on a few red-carpet occasions, like the premiere of Stranger Things. Though we rarely see them together, this couple has been together for almost a decade.
