This is a developing story. More information will be added.
The long-gestating, highly secretive, Scarlett Johansson-produced MCU project may have its first bit of news since November last year. First reported by Nexus Point News, who spotted that a creative executive at Marvel Studios made a change to their LinkedIn, the project will be a series. In fact, it is described by that executive as “upcoming TV project Untitled Scarlett Johansson series for Disney+”.
The series was first announced in 2021 by Marvel head Kevin Feige and there was no information given until July, where Johansson told ComicBook.com that it is still happening, but the writers’ strike and (then impending) actors’ strike caused a delay in any real movement.
The most recent update came at the premiere for last year’s The Marvels, where Feige told Entertainment Tonight, “We’re doing a project with Scarlett,”.
Since then, there hasn’t been any movement either way from Marvel’s side. Amidst rumours of delays and outright cancellations, it remains to be seen whether this project will survive the cull. One thing that we know for sure is that the project is not related to her former moniker of Black Widow, now taken over by Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova.
