      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

If its plot were as interesting as its torture devices, or its violence less painful than its performances, perhaps Saw V might not feel like it was running on fumes.

Thomas K this fifth chapter has a weak and aesthetic plot, which focuses on the suspense that has the introductions, both boring and full of slow flashbacks. Mark Hoffman's character has learned to embrace John Kramer's philosophy, carrying out his dirty work. The ending didn't convince me, since Straham dies only because he thought he had been deceived by Saw, but that's not the case. Saw is always sincere, never playing with the minds of his preys. This is why Hoffman has become my favorite character. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review Jr B I give this movie a 6.9!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review George X Some may say that from Saw V the franchise it's going down hill, well guess what NOPE and as a Greek Costas Mandylor is like the son of Jigsaw/Tobin Bell, hell of a show. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/21/24 Full Review QWERTY 0 I feel that the film is still not appreciated as it should be Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/24 Full Review justin a i wasnt a fan this is where the movies got dumb Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review Adrian G Esta película me gusta más que la anterior. Fue entretenida pero se siente un poco repetitiva y lenta. Me gusto la rivalidad de los personajes principales. Esta película es perfecta para un maratón de la saga ya que por sí sola es muy cansada. Jordan Crucchiola New York Magazine/Vulture There's heartwarming cooperation and redemption, but also vicious backstabbing, and it makes for the best murder-house dynamic in the franchise. Oct 27, 2017 Full Review Maitland McDonagh Time Out Rated: 2/5 Nov 17, 2011 Full Review Claudia Puig USA Today Saw V is a terrible combination: grisly and tedious. Let's just call it bloody dull. Rated: 1/4 Oct 30, 2008 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review It’s all very anonymous and detached, furthering the “torture porn” categorization of these movies. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 5, 2023 Full Review Shaun Munro Flickering Myth With few of the series' blackly comedic traps and the lack of any real plot twist, Saw V is the first entry that feels truly dull.
