It said it will have to prioritise patients that “genuinely need emergency care”.

It has urged patients with less serious injuries to visit its Urgent Care Centre in the Broad Street Mall in Reading.

The Urgent Care Centre is open from 8am - 8pm.

Patients can also go to http://111.nhs.uk, or their local pharmacy or GP surgery.

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust said: “Please be patient and understanding with our staff who are doing all they can to keep people safe and well looked after.”
