Divided Societies Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and sadly passed away on January 29, 1963. He was considered one of the most famous poets of his time because of all of the amazing works he published. The type of poetry he wrote about could be described as conversational, realistic, and rural. The one I chose to focus on and analyze is the “Mending Wall” which can be considered a controversial and realistic poem.

American poet, Robert Frost in his melancholy poem, “Nothing Gold Can Stay” presents the idea of nothing good lasting forever while using nature as a paradigm. This is represented through seasons with each season representing a different mood or stage in the cycle of growth. He develops his message through the personification of nature to show the drastic changes of plants. Specifically, this is presented in first couplet of the poem “Nature 's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold.” The line mentioned is giving nature human characteristics of possession and movement to enhance the meaning behind the words relating to the spring season.

I think it is really interesting how Robert Frost, as a poet, was able to connect two themes that are completely different and make it into a single poem.

Frost alludes to the Garden of Eden, which was the paradise that God originally created for Adam and Eve. However, we see a shift in the mood of the poem from the start to end. The beginning of the poem starts off somewhat jovial about the arrival of nature's "first green" or the start of spring, but towards the end it takes on the more solemn mood.

The Poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, and “Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening” also by Frost portray many similarities. Both portray the immensely difficult decisions that the speaker has. The speaker also in both of these poems has to develop a resolution to the choice they make. However they both portray more differences than similarities. Some of these differences are approach, imagery, metaphors, and tone.

People say that Whitman, Wordsworth, William Carlos Williams and the Beats in their respective generations moved poetry toward a more natural language. But Frost moved it a little farther. Many literary people agree that Robert Frost wrote some of the best poems that humanity has ever seen and the two most noticeable poems in his life have to be “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” and “The Road Not Take.” People who have read these two artworks would argue that both of these poems have different setting, different symbols or different plot but both have a similarity in author’s motivations.
