Robert Earl “Blue Duck” Vermilyea, 72, of Decatur died 7:50 a.m.
Tuesday (March 3, 1992) in St. Mary’s Hospital.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Macon Cemetery. Brintlinger’s
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Vermilyea was born in Colfax on Sept. 8, 1919, the son of Thomas Jessup
and Jessie Gray Vermilyea. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with
the 3rd Armored Divison. He was a member of the 23rd Arm’d Engineers and
received the Silver Star. He married Dorothy Wasilow in 1943.
Surviving are his wife; son, Gary Vermilyea and his wife Susan of Decatur;
daughter, Eileen and husband James Buts of Dallas, Texas; sister, Geneva
Nonnemacher of Peoria; half sister, Glenna Jean Daughterty of Bloomington;
grandsons, Justin Robert Vermilyea, Joshua James Buts and Jordan Robert Buts.
His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

Mrs. Vermilyea was born May 15, 1921, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Peter and Catherine Wasilow. She married Robert Vermilyea on May 7, 1943 in Bloomington, IL. He preceded her in death March 3, 1992. Mrs. Vermilyea’s family was her life.
She is survived by her son Gary Vermilyea and wife Susan of Decatur; daughter Eileen Buis and husband James of Dallas, TX; brother Stephen Wasilow, sister Margie Calcagni, sister Anna Mazziota, all of Allentown, PA; grandchildren Justin Vermilyea, Joshua Buis and wife Lara, and Jordan Buis and wife Jamie; great grandchildren Jackson Buis, Kate Buis, Caroline Buis, and Brooks Buis; niece Sylvia Wolfe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, and three sisters.
