OTTERBEIN - Robert Earl Bart, 78, died at 7:34 PM Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. Born Aug. 22, 1921, in Lafayette, he attended St. James Lutheran School and Jefferson High School. He was married to Dorothy Loraine Thompson on July 3, 1947, in Battle Ground; she died in 1988.

Mr. Bart served in the Army during World War II, and he was a surface grinder operator at Fairfield Manufacturing Co. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Battle Ground Masonic Lodge 313, Otterbein American Legion Martin Kennedy Post 125. He had received the American Theater Ribbon, Asiaric Pacific Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal from World War II.

Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca Moore of Littleton, CO; a brother, Fred Bart of Lafayette; a daughter-in-law, Sue Anne; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Bart; and two brothers, William C. Bart and Donald H. Bart.
