TV to Film
Transformers: The Movie (1986)
I loved the Transformers TV show, but I never got around to watching the original animated movie. I heard that Optimus Prime died in it, but he was alive on my TV. If I had watched it back then I would've been devastated. Now it was mostly a drag. Extremely weird to hear Orson Welles in there. |

Please Feed Fish Once a Day
Killer's Kiss | dir. Stanley Kubrick | 1955 | 68m | Honestly just watched this so I could finally finish up the entire (non-documentary) Kubrick filmography with Lolita later this week. You can see Kubrick getting better with each of these first three films but apart from some interesting cinematography I can't say there's anything indicative of the type of filmmaker he would later become. All pretty solid but mostly average. |

Finished Season 1. Where does it go from here? Well, I can guess, I guess. LOL. I'm taking a small break but plan to move on to Season 2 soon, so again, I'll reserve my rating until I get through Season 3 or decide to stop watching. |

Your feelings match mine on the show. I loved S1, thought S2 was a big step down (though I still enjoyed it by the end), and felt S3 trended back up (though still not as high as S1 in my opinion). I plan to start S4 at some point this month.

The Blob (1958) (rewatch)
Regal put this one back in theaters for a week, so I had to go see it. Perfect '50s sci-fi horror B-movie. Steve McQueen is maybe the oldest high schooler I've seen, either him or Stockard Channing in Grease. Between this and Jaws, it feels like I'm getting Halloween started early. 3.5/5 |

A League of Their Own (first-time viewing)
The original film is an all-time favorite, so this had a high standard to meet in my eyes. And boy, did it. This film perfectly captures the magic of the film, while expanding to include the full scope of experiences for women in baseball at the time, and the parallel stories of Negro League players. I'm going to be adding this to my recommendations for this month. 5/5 |

Alternate Title: The Witch 2: Superhuman Boogaloo
The Witch: Part 2. The Other One | dir. Park Hoon-jung | 2022 | 138m | It's a good, competent sequel that unfortunately lacks some of the surprise and refreshing originality of the first movie. The action is dialed up nearly past the budget and ability of the VFX department, but the plot is muddled and plodding at times. There's also a few attempts to add levity to the mostly grim world, some that are welcome and successful (the supermarket scene) and others not so successful (the South African guy). Still, it sets an interesting final chapter for the third movie. |

Sup, White Jesus? (recommended by Travis)
Reservation Dogs | dir. Sterlin Harjo, et al. | 2021- | 220m | That was great. Mostly hilarious but some real poignant moments too. The cast is fantastic. The four kids are all magnetic as hell and the writing is just top notch. Thanks for a great recommendation, |

I watched this for the first time before bed last night. I went in with low expectations, especially since reviews have generally not been favorable (as well as posts on this site). That said, I have to admit, I really had a great time with this movie! The human characters were simple, but that's fine. It wasn't supposed to be a deep movie. Those human elements were comedically serviceable. And the morals, while dubious at first, at least end with the characters realizing their wrongs and forgiveness abounding. It's not supposed to be realistic. One thing I can say I do dislike about the movie is the music, though. But I can look past that. The thing that made the movie shine for me was the absolute respect given to the title characters, their legacy, and the humor and animation that made them so beloved. I get so tired of seeing era-spanning characters get completely rewritten for modern appeal. In this movie, they are Tom and Jerry. They feel like the same duo from the golden and silver age cartoons. Yeah, they're CG now (but still made to look like classic 2D) and they fist bump, but that's about the extent of it. Their relationship, the gags (some taken directly from the classic toons, but it works), the wreckage...it's all there, and I loved it. They did them right. This is the way you introduce old characters to a new audience. Finally, it can be argued that this isn't exactly a TV to Big Screen movie, considering Tom & Jerry debuted on the Big Screen. But that was before my time, and I first saw them on TV, where they've reran for years and years, including during the prime of my childhood. There were even new series made for TV. So that's the category I'm putting it in. Let's compromise and call this one a return to the Big Screen. Tom & Jerry: The Movie (2020): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Last edited by BuraddoRun; 09-07-2022 at 01:29 AM. |

1. The Transformers: The Movie 3 /5 - 84 Minutes I'm not sure this warranted a 4k release.. but it was fun to revisit the movie! 2. The Bob's Burgers Movie 1 / 5 - 102 Minutes This was awful... I have never watched the TV show so maybe that's why but man was it bad worst of the year! Watched S04 E2 and E3, really enjoying Season 4! Best since the 1st season! 4 / 5 |
