Very interesting. Any photos with the screen/cameras in action? I haven't been able to locate many photos of that concert.

By the way, the article mentions that Concerts West was responsible for filming. Can we contact them?

As I said in another thread, there are more recordings out there that we don't even know about, like the Atlanta show being projected into screens back in 1973, and it took 40 years for us to find that out that there's probably some tape of a pro shot of that show lying around or being hoarded.

Communication Breakdown, filmed sometime between Feb 11 and 15th, 1969, at Thee Image Club in Miami, "...probably one of two numbers video taped for "The Rick Shaw Show", a local TV show hosted by a popular Miami Top 40 Radio DJ".

Can I please say one thing concerning the "uncirculating" part?

It's complete BS. If a show was filmed, that does NOT mean the film was also saved, and even if it was, 40 years is a long time and it's perfectly possible for footage to get destroyed in such a period.

I agree, it should be more like "Screens in Use at Show." Uncirculating leads one to believe (at least in my view) that the shows are out of Page's hand's and in the hands of private collectors, but not openly.

regarding lost/destroyed- Unless you are able to name a tape that has been "destroyed" I am unaware of any that have been destroyed. Unless you are able to name a tape that has been "lost" I am unaware of any that are "lost."

I have audio tapes from the 50's that have not degraded noticeably. Have video from the 60s. Keep expecting it to fall apart due to all the urban legend about the tape boogey man rotting them away. Hasn't happened. They sit in a vault with no special care and are just fine. Dubbed them to 1" masters back in the '80s with backup to cassette for listening. Transferred to CD in late '80s. Transferred to digital in 2003. Ready to transfer to a higher resolution digital sometime this year.

If my tapes are ok, it seems to me that someone who knows what they are doing isn't having a problem with their pile o' tapes either.

I wouldn't call it urban legend, it's well documented. It all depends on the kinds of tapes you have. Very specific formulations of Ampex (among other brands) go sticky. If you have a box of mid 70's Ampex 406/407 that hasn't gotten sticky/stated to shed, consider yourself lucky.

Not sure if vhs tapes have the same problem, not into old video tape collecting as I am audio.

Let me knock some of these out:

21 July 1969 - New York City, New York, USA @ Central Park - rumor, but not professional film.
21 May 1977 - Houston, Texas, USA @ The Summit -- could have been filmed from an elevated position. See this. - Just because The Who were filmed two years earlier doesn't mean Zep was filmed.
30 May 1977 - Landover, Maryland, USA @ Capital Center -- see this. If you actually read the photo, it clearly states that the screens were not in use.
29 June 1980 - Zurich, Switzerland @ Hallenstadion - ONLY FROM ONE SOURCE. That was from an email of all kinds of claims that haven't surfaced.

I do believe Geezer's list is accurate and complete as far as concerts being recorded on above consumer grade equipment.

...hesitate to say they are all "Pro-Shot."

I have been suprised many times at releases that I believed did not exist, truly in my heart was convinced they did not exist.

However, in the case of Landover, Houston and Zurich- all three venues had/have sophisticated in-house A/V setups which have provided many bootlegs over the years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_Centre (look at AS A CONCERT VENUE paragraph for Landover) The Summit had an even more elaborate set-up. Tremendous boots have come from the in-house A/V capabilities (not Pro-Shot)

Hallenstadion has four A/V decks since opening. Two at side stage about 60' back from the platform, two at the corners in the rear. It's not my place to say who has or does not have proof. I do appreciate the work of the individuals who keep track of this for all of us on the forum.

I don't know if Landover, Houston and Zurich were "Pro-Shot"- I do believe the recordings exist.

post-21997-0-43778000-1363045954_thumb.j

A/V crow's nest #2 at the rear of the arena stage left can accomodate multiple operators and configuarations. The two white fixaters are mounted dollies for equipment.

^ Indeed, but in the case of Houston and Zurich there are no evidence of cameras in photos, and as I explained earlier, people from the Houston show claimed that the video screens were not in use. Zurich is just a rumor with no evidence. For Landover, the caption for that picture of the screen claimed that the screens were not in action.

I stumbled across this old Proximity article about the "Ten Holy Grails" of Zeppelin collecting.

Very interesting how so many of the then-rumored videos did, in fact, emerge later. This was written before there was a Seattle video, or Earls Court, even. Number Ten remains particularly intriguing...
