Police hunt suspect after three people were gunned down near VCU campus

  • Officers found two men and one woman wounded at 2.45am on Sunday

Police are hunting a suspect after three people were gunned down near the Virginia Commonwealth University campus.

Officers found two men and one woman wounded in the 1300 block of West Broad Street at about 2.45am on Sunday, WTVR-TV reports. 

Two victims were transported to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police have not yet identified the victims, but they do not believe they are VCU students, according to the local station.

No motive has been established and police have not released a description of the suspect.

However, in an alert to VCU students, the school said at an altercation had broken out at a party inside a private apartment.

In the alert, the suspect was described as a black man with a thin build, who had close-cut hair and was last seen wearing a red polo shirt, blue jean shorts with holes in them, red and white Nike Air Jordan sneakers as well as a gold chain and a gold watch.  

It urged students to immediately report suspicious activity to police, be aware of their surroundings and avoid isolated areas and walking alone at night.

An investigation is ongoing.
