Hotel staff were excellent and very helpful. The hotel decor is a little dated, but nice. The rooms are large with a full kitchen. The beds were soft, but firm so I had a good night sleep. They have manager's mixer form 6- 7:30pm on Monday - Wednesday that seemed very nice - but I did not participate. They do have a complimentary buffet in morning that offers a nice selection of food choices The hotel location is very convenient as it is close to airport, old town, Little Italy, Sseaport village and gaslight district.
One drawback is if you stay in rear area of hotel you can hear the trains. but they seem to stop about 10pm. My overall experience was very good

My 3 sisters and I stayed her here for a birthday weekend and had the 2 bedroom suite. We loved the room and all the space. Each bedroom had a queen bed and bathroom. The bedrooms are separated by a living room with sofa sleeper and kitchenette with dining table and chairs. It was great for the 4 of us.

There was a continental breakfast each morning with a variety of items. It was overall a quiet hotel, easy to get in/out of.

We enjoyed the location of this hotel, being across the street from the Harbor and walking distance to many downtown shops/restaurants. A few steps away is a Jack in the Box and the local fire department. We always felt safe walking around, day and night.

Desk staff was very helpful upon check in giving us a printed information sheet so we wouldn't forget all that they told us. The location was great - walking distance from so many wonderful places and great restaurants. If you didn't want to or couldn't walk you could book their free shuttle - pleasant informative driver. Breakfast was fresh, hot and plentiful options. All areas of hotel were kept cleaned. Beautiful area outside with fire pit - very relaxing. Always greeted when going in or out. Felt like home. Have a RI Mix on Mon, Tues, Wed nights with snacks, wine and beer. Great opportunity to meet new people.

Covid has caused many a things to be cancelled for our family in the last 4 months. We needed to get away to our favorite Southern California city for just a night and eat at some of our favorite restaurants, etc.

We love to stay at Residence Inns. We love the set up, the space, and it works for us as a family of four. We normally prefer to stay at The Residence Inn at Bayfront, but surprisingly, they were completely booked for tonight. We'd been curious about Residence Inn Downtown in the event we ever got lucky to score a reservation here for Comic Con week.

We reserved a 2 room suite, it was pretty pricey for $309 a night. We were given a room on the 4th floor, overlooking the trolley tracks. Within minutes a trolley passed by and it was loud. I went down to the front desk to inquire about switching rooms. Unfortunately all the 2 room suites were booked. So we were stuck.

Upon returning to our room, my family had inspected the room and it wasn't very clean. There were crumbs and wrappers all over the kitchen counters. In this day and age of Covid, something this simple doesn't give you the confidence that everything else was cleaned and disinfected appropriately.

We made our way down to the front desk and checked out. Thankful that Michelle was able to cancel the reservation without any penalty. She was very apologetic. Unfortunately, we will cross this hotel off our "possible hotels for Comic Con list".

We found two rooms for the cost of the 2 room suite just down the way at the Courtyard Marriott in the Gaslamp District. Nice rooms, clean rooms, TV remote wrapped, doors sealed with a clean label.

Other NOTES:

The parking lot landscapping (tons of weeds) needs some tending to.
Hallways need vaccuuming.

I rarely write reviews but this experience warrants one. As a titanium member with Marriott I travel a lot for work and lesuire. I've stayed in older properties but this property bus probably one of the worse I've stayed in. This property needs serious renovations and better housekeeping. This property is operating like a budget motel. I've seen better rooms at best western than this. The Stayed here in for 3 nights in August. My family and I had a 2 bedroom suite and the first suite(322) we had the bath tubs were disgusting. Can obviously tell housekeeping either skip cleaning or did a poor job. The tub had residue on it. I told the front desk and they moved us. The next room (231) was a bit better but there was still some residue in the tubs from cleaning products. At that point my family member bought cleaning supplies and cleaned the tub ourselves( I never had to clean a tub in a hotel. Before) . Because at this point it's not even worth moving again. The furniture in the suite was worn out and needs to be replaced. The cushions on the couch were so flat you would probably be better off sitting on the ground. The next day my family and I went out to explore the area. And came back to the suite smelling like sour/midewish not sure why it began smelling like that. I told the guy at the front desk and he sent maintenance to the suite and they cleaned out the garbage disposal and kitchen drain. Afterwards we were given an plug in. I never needed a plug in air freshener in a hotel and that says a lot. I did notice the carpets in the hallway had a old midew smell when I first arrived. I've heard other guest complain about it as well. The next day they did shampoo the carpet which helped a lot. I was told I would be given points for the "inconvenience of switching rooms and smell" but I checked out and then points are not in my account. They should at least honor what they said they are going to do. The location is convenient and the beds are comfortable but it's not worth staying there again. The young lady at check-in was nice and maintenance guy,but customer service can only go so far if the property is barely liveable. There are so many other options in the same area that are better and will probably explore those next time.

5 night stay from Dec31 booked room with sea view but arrived 3hrs early and were offered a ground floor room which we took so our choice .rooms as others have said are dared but they are of a good size clean and tidy. The 2 TVs come in useful as had our daughter. As others also say the WiFi is indeed hit and miss but more hit to be fair.location good yes you can hear trains and planes .you xan walk to local tram stop and 7/11 store in 3 mins .we managed trips to seaword the zoo and mission beach all on public transport. The MTR website is excellent. On getting back to the UK we noticed the hotel had taken a extra $470 they did reply quick and say it was a holding charge and has indeed be returned we just wernt made aware of that. I suggest this property is worth a stay if you are in this area

There are a few great Marriott properties in Downtown/Gaslamp San Diego and this is one of them. Located on the edge of Little Italy and a Red Line Train stop a block away, this property has a good view of the waterfront as well as within easy walking distance of the waterfront and Gas Lamp district as well. The front desk staff person Candace was an amazing help on recommending local places to eat and the best way to pop down to the border without a car for a day trip into Tijuana.

Rooms are pretty much standard 'Residence Inn" style with many rooms having small stand only balconies. There's a pool and fire pit as well. A short hop from the airport and centrally located for Uber trips or rental car access to the further reaches of the area - I strongly recommend this property. It's often a lot less expensive than the hotels closer to the Gas Lamp but just as good!

Great location near the waterfront and Little Italy. Desk clerk was very helpful during our stay - he gets high marks for friendliness. 2 bedroom unit was comfortable. While it is an older hotel and could use some updating, it is hard to beat the price and location.

We had a few issues arise for our stay for a conference that were not the hotel's problems at all, but the hotel staff handled it all with care and diligence.
We had a booking issue, which the staff helped us trace to a travel agent, got on the phone with them, and stayed on with them for over half an hour until it was resolved. Then, one of our staff had anxiety about the conference, and ended up getting sick due to nerves, the staff helped out right away (especially Paty and Rene!), cleaned everything up and made certain the guests were all fine. Our staff member said she didn't worry about the incident the rest of the day, since Paty and Rene were so assuring and helpful.
Extra blankets on request, holding luggage since the conference was going to go over checkout time (extending checkout time for a few of us who needed even more time), giving recommendations, directions, and simply making everyone feel comfortable and welcome.
Thanks for everything!

if i remember correctly, breakfast is 7am-10am, or around those times and the shuttle, i believe its 6:30am, but its literally 10 minutes away from the airport. i took an uber because the shuttle wasn't running, and it was like 7 dollars. call and double check, everyone is super nice.

parking is really expensive, you'd probably be better off parking at the airport.

we were closest to the train and didn't hear them but I suspect if you are a light sleeper you may want to be further away from the train. I would just call front desk and put a note on your reservation to be furthest away from trains or in the middle to ensure you get a quiet room.
