Very nice family suite stay. It has an upstairs loft as the master bedroom with a full bath, and downstairs had two queen beds, a full bath and a sofa bed. Three TVs, TV trays, small table eating area, a full kitchen (refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, sink, appliances, utensils, etc). The tv has access to Netflix which made us feel more at home. The pool is open and heated, spa is closed though. Due to Covid they have a Grab-and-Go style breakfast included in the stay. It was pretty good considering the circumstance. We had a pre-made breakfast sandwich or a basic omelette, oatmeal package, granola bar, bagels, cream cheese, juices, milks, etc, along with coffee and water. They’re following current Covid protocols and not allowing indoor eating for breakfast, but you can eat at any of the outdoor sitting areas if you don’t want to eat in your room. Front desk is super responsive and brought whatever we called for quickly during various hours.
The walkways make it easy to park on any side of the building and still have easy access to your room. A very central location if you’re looking to explore La Jolla, close to many attractions. Very comfortable stay for a good price.

The hotel public areas and our suite are very clean. All the staffs are seen with masks on during our entire stay. Fast response fr the front desk & housekeeping for each request. The air conditioning works great and the shower pressure is excellent! The kitchen has everything we needed to have family meals and make tea/coffee. At this (Covid) time, we found that it is safer and cheaper to pick up to-go food and eat at the suite in many occasions. The hotel does a good job to provide breakfast during Covid by replacing the usual buffet breakfast with limited pick & go breakfast items such as wheat bread, bagel, yogurt, boiled eggs, apple/orange juices etc. Overall, we feel safe & comfortable and had great time at RI La Jolla.

The location cannot be more convenient. Plenty of good restaurants, Whole Foods & Nordstrom Rack are within 5 mins walk. UCSD dorm Argo Hall is within 0.9 mile/15-20 mins walk. Many top rated tacos and food are within 10-15 drive in La Jolla area.

Enjoyed staying there, walking to shop. There were many people over breakfast that may caused not enough foods to grab! Friendly staffs

The rate I stayed is over price, I cant get much cheaper when a community center invited me to present with a small agency. Over $170 per night for a self employed was my concern.

I d love coming back if i can get a better rate or have a sponsor help me out paying sleep in

I didnt use kitchen but sleep in

Starbucks , restaurants, whole food, and trader joes are closer you can walk

We booked for three nights at this Residence Inn, but we had to check out after staying there for only one night because our room was dirty, dark and smelly.

When we first got there, we were told our room was not ready yet. We drove around in the area and the front desk called us and said the room was ready. We went back and moved our bags into the room with high expectation because we stayed at other Marriott Residence Inns and the experience was always good. However, we were stunned after we got into the room. The room was on the second floor of a very crowded building. There were not many windows and they were all covered by thick curtains. There was a strong smell of food from the previous "resident". We lit up as many candles as we could find in a nearby grocery store but the smell didn't go away. The room has two levels. One bed was on the upper level but there was no wall or door. The two beds on the lower level were kind of hidden in a dark cave. The carpet was old and dirty. I did not want to put anything on the floor. The bathrooms were tiny and the towels were very old after being washed hundreds of times. At night, some of the lights were out in the path way to the building it felt inconvenient and dangerous.

The next morning, before 6am, we heard very loud machines being operated at the building and I felt someone was trying to tear off the roof of our room. Then I saw it was workers working on a building next to our building, which was not a part of the hotel's property.

We had to end our stay right there and moved to another hotel in the neighborhood.

Good Afternoon atwater5122, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Without our guest responses we would not be able to take every opportunity to improve. All of our Family Suites are going to have the exact same floorplan that you experienced, and I apologize that it did not work for your stay. Our hotel is unique and we are proud to be one of the few "first generation Residence Inn" style properties left in California. I thank you for your feedback regarding your room and will be sharing with our management team so that we can ensure all future guests have a positive experience. We hope that you will continue to keep Residence Inn and Marriott at the top of mind when traveling.

We were first given a perfectly acceptable room in a location which we were not comfortable with. After the first night, I spoke to a manager who immediately remedied the room location and had our luggage moved while we were out enjoying the day so that we wouldn’t spend the whole day dealing with the change. Just excellent customer service.
The rooms are comfortable. The location good. The breakfast good and the employees friendly and helpful.
If you are looking for “a room with a view”, this inn is not for you. But if you are looking for the above, we don’t think you will be disappointed.

Can’t beat the bed. And staff is great. But I still don’t have hot enough water to shower. I’m told that’s as hot as they set it here. So, during Covid I’m washing dishes with barely lukewarm water. Heating water to wash up. I’m not new to hotels. This water is set ridiculously low. Daily I have to remove the top of the toilet to press down on the plunger to fill the tank. Haven’t called that in because I don’t want maintenance in my room during Covid. Kitchen accommodations are a joke. Tiny frying pan and one 2 qt pot. Partially melted spatula, no rubber scrapers or whips and knives that are so thin and flexible you can’t cut a carrot with them. Surprised there are no USB ports. Had to get an extension cord with ports to use while I’m here. I’m stuck here for 2 weeks with a remodel at home. Hoping the shower at home is done this week so I can go home and shower. Disappointed.

We stayed 5 nights and had a great stay. Breakfast was bountiful, everything is clean and tidy, and the hot tubs are clean and plenty hot. The staff are all friendly and helpful. We arrived late Thursday evening a little weary from after a long week of travel. The front desk staff, Martinique and Victoria, lifted our spirits and got us checked in to a nice and convenient room. Their upbeat and positive attitudes continued throughout our stay, and they were most knowledgeable and helpful with details and recommendations for the area as well as navigating our way to and through the airport. Thanks for a great visit to La Jolla, ladies!

I checked in at 4AM and asked to do an early check-in for no charge and the night auditor allowed it and did not advise that I would be charged twice for one night. Before I checked out, I called again to verify that the information is correct and another day time front desk staff told me that I should only get charged one night. A week later the charge was still on my card and I called Marriott Corporate, they assigned a new case # to me and the general manager refused to approve the refund considering their staff mislead me. I called again because I was advised by Corporate that they would try to resolve it again. I followed up a week later and it turns out Marriott didn’t even give me the correct case #. I work to the State of California and have done numerous traveling and have never had such a horrible experience such as this. Avoid this hotel—there are a ton of other hotels in San Diego for the same price and you won’t be misinformed. Totally reporting this place to the Better Business Bureau.

Hi jenniferannej, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. I sincerely apologize for the confusion you faced; checking in at 4AM is fairly uncommon for us. It is true that 4am qualifies as the night before, so you would be charged for 2 nights. We certainly understand the frustration if this was not explained to you upon arrival. You experience has been discussed at length with our team to ensure they are well informed for all future guests. Best Regards, Anessa Graytok Event Specialist

Location-wise, the Residence Inn can't be beat, especially if your stay involves a visit to nearby UC San Diego. It's also a minute away from the freeway and a short drive to plenty of shops of restaurants.

Another outstanding thing to point out is the level of service. We arrived at 1 AM and the front desk employee, Jay, was so accommodating and made our check in process as quick and smooth as he possibly could. We also had an incident when a bunch of college students decided to throw a rowdy party in the room directly above us. As soon as I reported it to guest services, they immediately sent security over to put an end to the ruckus.

The room was okay, although I have to admit it was very dark and gloomy inside. The bathroom is in need of an update, together with some of the furniture. However, our stay was comfortable and what we liked the most was the fact that the entrance to our room was directly accessible from the parking lot.

My family and I won't hesitate to stay here again.

The check in experience at the front desk with Sara was horrible!! We went to this hotel so we could get a suite for my son to watch the ufc fight with his friends. Not only did it feel like we were being PROFILED. She charged our card TWICE. The incidental hold of 500 dollars should be displayed on the confirmation or website which its not. When she told us the amount I wanted to double check with my son to see if he wanted to still stay there. When i went back to the counter Sara i guess assumed we couldn't pay for it. Her first response was so are we canceling your reservation. When i told her that we were going to stay she then asked me to insert my card . I guess she thought it was going to decline and when it was approved she then asked for id. She ended up charging us twice. Then she tells us she can't give us the keys because she cant pull 500 extras dollars. When i tell her because she has charged us twice. She says she never charged us twice and my son pulls up his bank statement to show her that she did. Even with evidence in her face she denied charging us twice. Then she tells the MOD that we tried to switch cards on her. They have cameras right at the front desk i told them to rewind the tape cause that never happened. Never asked if we were parking, she just started writing out a parking permit and when i told her we weren't parking she rips up the parking permit. But guess who was still charged for parking!!! The next day Sunday the 7th i called to the front desk and what ever guy was working at the front desk was rude as hell. I asked to speak to a manager and he said one wasnt available and that he would give them my number to call me. I said ok but i will be stopping by when i pick up my son when he checks out. We are about to get off the phone and i ask him don't you need my number because he never asked. His reply was i have your number. So i ask him what is my number and he reads the number that i was calling from that was not my phone number. i let him know that this isnt my number and he responded with well thats the number you called from. I ended up speaking to the hotel Gm and she stated she would look at my folio and get back to me. She never did. I then called two days after because there were charges i had questions about still on my sons card. This review could've been avoided had someone just followed and offered something other than we wont charge you the 500 incidental when we were already charged twice. Never again! Disappointed to say the least for that amount of money you shouldn't have to leave a place feeling like a criminal. Martinique and Hollis were great thats about it!
