Product Description

After being imprisoned for six years on a grand theft auto charge, Rudy Duncan and his cellmate Nick are finally going to be paroled. After hearing endless stories during his incarceration of Nick's romantic correspondence to a woman named Ashley he has never met, Rudy is looking forward to returning to his family. When Nick is killed during a prison riot, Rudy decides to assume Nick's identity and meet up with the unknown woman. Burdened with knowledge of Nick's Indian casino employment past, Rudy finds himself in too deep with Ashley's brother Gabriel and is forced to cooperate with a casino robbery that Gabriel and his gang have been planning with Nick in mind.

So I looked at the picture of what I was buying and read the description : “Reindeer Games - The Director's Cut [Blu-ray + Digital HD]” and thought that’s what I was buying. What I received, however, was the director’s cut with not even the false promise of a digital copy.
Disappointing. I need to look around before I decide to send this one back or not.

Salvo que Ben Affleck tenga alguna idea para devolver la alegria a estas navidades. He comprado esta película porque la pusieron hace poco en la tele y me ha parecido entretenida.

No le doy cinco estrellas porque la película se paró en el minuto 30 y se saltó por unos minutos. Sin embargo, me he apañado al sacar el DVD, ponerla de nuevo y saltarlo un poco. Yo hubiera preferido descambiarla pero como a lo mejor tendrá el mismo problema he preferido no hacerlo. Pero eso si, el resto de la película no se ha parado.

Rudy's (Ben Affleck) Zellenkumpan Nick wurde kurz vor der Entlassung der beiden bei einer Knastrevolte (Kakerlaken als "Proteineinlage" im Essen!) abgestochen, dabei hatte Nick sich doch so sehr auf ein geiles Treffen mit seiner Brieffreundin Ashley gefreut, während Rudy nur an heiße Schokolade und Weihnachsfeier im Familienkreis dachte.
Rudy gibt sich als Nick aus und gerät so an dessen Freundin (Charlize Theron, im Jahre 2000 mit 25 Jahren noch nicht so bekannt und mit Recht hoch dekoriert wie für "Monsters"), leider funkt deren Bruder Gabriel (Gary Sinise) dazwischen, der "Nick's" Wissen über ein Spielcasino nutzen will, um dieses zur Weihnachtszeit auszurauben.
Bleibt Rudy dabei, Nick zu sein, muß er etwas vorweisen können, "entlarvt" er sich als Rudy, läuft er Gefahr, als unliebsamer Mitwisser entsorgt zu werden. Aus diesem Dilemma ergeben sich zahlreiche Wendungen des Filmes und Windungen der Handlung, die laut einer Kritik den Fans des Regisseurs Frankenheim viel, zuviel Geduld abforderte, die Handlung und immer neue Ver-und Entwickliungen nähmen dem Film viel von seiner Glaubwürdigkeit.
RICHTIG ! UND DAS IST GUT SO. Es wird zwar brutal verprügelt, im Casino mit Schnellfeuerwaffen rumgeballert, es gibt Tote und am Schluß noch einmal eine Riesenüberraschung, denkbar, aber doch krampfhaft aus dem Hut gezaubert scheinend, der Film um die RÄUBERISCHEN WEIHNACHTSMÄNNER ist für mich nicht bitterernst zu nehmen, sondern mit Weihnachsmannkostümen, Prügelszenen, die keinen einzigen Knochen brechen lassen und einem schon zu genial zugrunde liegendem Plot für mich einfach nur
EINE GELUNGENE PERSIFLAGE AUF DAS GENRE.
Ich kann mir bei vielen Szenen, wie z.B. dem andauernden Zugeben oder Leugnen von Rudy über seine Identität und dem herrlich fiesen Gary Sinise als Gabriel sowie der Wandlung von Charlize vom Engelchen in einen (sehr attraktiven)Teufel ein Grinsen wiederholt nicht verkneifen und glaube tatsächlich nicht, daß dieser Film so furchtbar ernst gemeint war, und deshalb ist der unglaubwürdige Zick-Zack-Verlauf auch sehr gelungen.. So einen Bockmist würde ein guter Regisseur uns doch nicht als ernstgemeinten Action-Thriller verkaufen wollen. Bei dem zusamengeknüppelten und brutal getretenen Ben Affleck dachte ich kurze Zeit nach der bezogenen Abreibung an eine Trickfilmfigur, die nach dem Zusammenstoß mit einer Dampfwalze zweidimensional auf der Straße klebt und sich gleich darauf wieder zu dreidimensionaler Pracht entfaltet. Das Schlimmste, was ihm erfuhr, war doch ein Nasenstüber mit etwas Blut zwischen Nase und Oberlippe. Und das Finale war doch sowas von an den Haaren herbeigezogen, daß es einfach wieder gut war.

Wer den Film völlig ernst genommen und für gut befunden hat, der... da schweigt des Rezensenten Höflichkeit ;-)

Wer den Film so gesehen hat wie ich, dürfte eine Menge Spaß mit "Reindeer Games" gehabt haben.
Kritik an meiner Art von Humor ist erlaubt, mir muß dann aber erlaubt sein, diese zu ignorieren.
Den Spaß an dem Film wird sie mir nicht verderben können.

Right from the get go this Rom-com has all the Rom and all the Com a little alligator like me could ask for, plus more! Deception (or 'Rainman Game' as they call it state-side) is a story of two hopelessly star-struck lovers, just trying to make their way through the snow, in order to make the nearest Santa's Grotto installation before the season ends. The only problem is - a small group of angry, renegade filipinos know something they don't...they are carrying the worlds largest cubic zirconia in their holiday stocking.

The film takes the audience on a roller coaster ride of thrills, chills, laughs and kills. Ben Affleck's performance as Desmond, a down on his luck ex-dancer from Michigan is particularly compelling and makes for a captivating watch. Charlize Theron provides equally memorable moments (one particular scene including a disgustingly diluted bottle of orangeade, six baseballs and a tear in her eye), in which she portrays the sneaky but sexy New York Entomologist, with a hidden passion for euthanasia. Viewers are also blessed by a steaming cameo from Johnny Marr (guitarist from heavy metal rock band 'The Shins'), and a rare return to the big screen from Kenneth Williams, as mean but lovable jewel-thief henchman.

I strongly recommend this film to a wide range of viewer tastes. Though it is, in basic outline, an Action Thriller, there are many subdivisions, that will leave fans of any genre satisfied.
